Tag name, page content

It looks like someone created this page despite there being no uses of the tag in OSM. That's absolutely the wrong way around. The OSM wiki is supposed to document the tags in OSM, not something authored independently of it.

The problem with the content is more serious. OSM uses English tags, and "longbowl" seems to be a made-up translation based on https://www.bowlplaying.com/en/sporting-activity/on-road/ . This sport _does_ have a name in (Hiberno-) English - "Road Bowling" (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irish_road_bowling and https://www.irishroadbowling.ie/ ), It tends not to have permanent pitches for obvious reasons, but that tag is in use: https://overpass-turbo.eu/s/29Hl for a clubhouse. Hey @SomeoneElse: - the page was created by me. And I chose the term ‘longbowl’ because it is used by the association (IBA) to which the Irish Road Bowling Association also belongs. I also spoke to a friend from Ireland, and he confirmed that internationally, they tend to call it longbowl, as this better encompasses the different types of the game than using the individual regional names (Irish road bowling, German Boßeln, etc.) For this reason, I consider the statement that it is a serious mistake to be rather incorrect.
And yes, I used it for a club or rather its clubhouse. Which is correct and important. And since it was not yet available in any other version in the database, I entered this tag as explained above and then documented it in the wiki so that it is traceable. And yet it is used in a list of several sports, so it is also in use, only the wiki tool cannot evaluate this. --SafetyIng (talk) 20:53, 11 August 2025 (UTC)
