urgent vs. emergency
Is there a difference between healthcare:speciality=urgent and approved healthcare:speciality=emergency? Do we need to differentiate with 2 tags, or can we summarize those facilities under the tag value "emergency"? --Chris2map (talk) 15:25, 30 October 2025 (UTC)
- healthcare:speciality=urgent (English term) An emergency room is a specific hospital department that is the point of admission for patients with acute and life-threatening conditions, or it is a designation for the need to provide urgent medical care.
- healthcare:speciality=emergency (English term) generally refers to a serious medical situation, condition, or emergency that requires medical assistance or treatment.
- Urgent ... immediately, right now, without delay
- Emergency ... ambulance, rescue, emergency but not urgent
- The patient goes to the emergency room on their own (they arrive on foot or by car), but urgent admission (the situation) is ordered by a doctor (e.g., an ambulance).
- These combined medical services (in one place) are then referred to without further distinction as "emergency," "emergency care," or "urgent admission," which is sufficient for patient orientation but inaccurate from a professional point of view. --HaPe-CZ (talk) 17:05, 30 October 2025 (UTC)
