Getting rid of SPAM

It's funny, because these forums aren't really a high traffic area.
They post links that are obviously spam, and nobody clicks. They're just wasting their time.

It's human driven. I like to try to ask them how many clicks they got for their efforts. Have yet to get a reply.

OSM Browser Woes

perhaps running firefox from a portableapps install will get you going again.

Changeset 8264528

JOSM might do that. I'm a potlatch user.
You can revert to a previous version.. such as version 5, see that you don't like something, and just not click the 'save' button.. then try reverting to another version.
A person can even revert to version 6 if they want (the straight line version), so you don't have to worry about breaking OSM.

...

my Garmin oregon sometimes is tricked by reflected signals from mountains.
The trick is to walk the same route a few times.

Changeset 8264528

I pressed the 'revert' button in potlatch 1. hope that helps.

Changeset 8264528

you can edit it in Potlatch 1, select the way history, and revert to a previous version.

20110524T0030 Tuesday - removed road segment that is not there

or, you can tag it as a service road, of type Driveway, and private access.
highway=service
service=driveway
access=private

Bike & hiking trail maps: interview participants wanted!

I'll reply publicly.
I'd like Garmin to render trails which had the MTB:scale to be shown with Green Circle / Blue Square / Black diamond / double diamond to show difficulty of trails.
I'd like my Garmin to provide directions to factor in uphill speed (ie, taking 1 hour to climb 1000 feet) , and downhill speed (ie 55 kph on my mtn bike going down a 7% grade) and to let a cyclist pick a route based on time, time and energy, and energy.
I like the turn by turn trail directions that my Oregon gives me, but would like it to pick the easiest way there sometimes.

ImprovVideo

do you actually get web traffic by posting that link here? I don't think you'll actually see any web traffic.

my take on a refactored access tagging scheme

on a positive note
I like the length, axle weight, height, and trailer restrictions, as truckers are more interested in that.

some suggestions
dawn and dusk times - to add to the list.. (playgrounds speed limits are slow from dawn to dusk - defined as a certain number of minutes before and after sunset)

replace the ? with : that way you get
access:bicycle=yes
access:bicycle:wet=no for slippery wooden bridges.

I thought the ! symbol was a mathematical 'not' operator.
I've seen 'hgv' used... is this an offshoot of lgv?
some streets in the UK can't fit the North American intermodal sized trailers (these are boxcar sized trailers which fit onto trains in North America, and go onto container ships)

I'd suggest keeping the majority of the tagging ideas in this proposal.
When I first posted the 'non human readable' comment, I was going with my gut feeling, and someone else pointed out it was the mathematical/conditional operators.. I think I agree with them.

There's a lot of good stuff in your proposal, I hope most of it stays.

my take on a refactored access tagging scheme

stuff like
access:lgv!school_zone#time=Mo,We 08:00-18:00
and
access!ZTL#time=Mo-Th 06:30-18:00; Fr 06:30-18:00,23:00-24:00; Sa 00:00-03:00,14:00-18:00,23:00-24:00; Su 00:00-03:00
end up looking more like computer code rather than a human readable description.

Homeowner Associations

for the pedestrian area around the pool, I suggest highway=pedestrian area=yes

Recording tracks

Sites like Mapmyrun.com will let you analyse your run.
mapmyride, bikemap.net and bikely.com will let you see how long your bike ride was and give an elevation graph.

Highway 7 was recently deleted?

.. also, is 341 supposed to be a 1 way road?

Highway 7 was recently deleted?

And there's some gpx track tracing from the north side down to iwaki. I didn't label these due to no local knowledge.
Iwaki to Honjo should be easy tracing for someone who knows the area. Just turn on the gps track in the potlatch editor.

Highway 7 was recently deleted?

ok, i finished here. osm.org/browse/node/1263065931

not having local knowledge, there's a chance that perhaps I joined the freeway to a local road that should've been an overpass/underpass.

Highway 7 was recently deleted?

how about I just start tracing for you guys.... osm.org/browse/changeset/7991285
