Changeset When Comment

Hello, please answer my concerns at https://forum.openstreetmap.org/viewtopic.php?pid=812013#p812013: I feel that Provincial Roads should not be tertiary because we then cannot use tertiary for other roads to towns, villages or hamlets, without causing serious confusion.

I'm sorry, I must have slipped up with copying the name, probably due to the confusion with editors going for different localisation tags. Is there anything that I can fix for you?

Hello, I believe that you have damaged valid data in this changeset, and I had to partially undo it to protect the data.

Firstly, you split the carriageway where there is no physical separation. We have the lanes:forward=* and lanes:backward=* tags for roads separated only by hatched lines.

For example, a two-way road with a hatched section in the middle uses lanes=3, lanes:forward=1, and lanes:backward=1. placement=transition indicates a transition between two layouts.

Secondly, you did not check the street lighting data (lit=yes/no), which is mapped because Greece has a lot of windy roads, which require a lot of careful attention at night.

I think you should use JOSM, because it is capable of detailed editing, and custom stylesheets that show street lighting data and road layouts.

The source was supposed to be Maxar-Premium.

Imagery was supposed to be "Maxar-Premium" - something is wrong with RapiD.

CORRECTION: it appears that "railway=stop" is a valid (but rare in some places) tag referring to the stop position of trains, but I think it has fooled some editors (as well as me) to thinking that it represents a smaller stop.

Also, it doesn't appear in JOSM, so it is easy to think that "public_transport=stop_position" is the only valid tag. If iD supports "railway=stop", then JOSM should do the same. Otherwise neither should support "railway=stop": it is really confusing.

However, the fact remains that removing stop positions is not a good idea, because it is an accepted standard in public transport relations. We have come a very long way in tagging: for example, is_in=* is already on the way out in many countries (since March 2019). :-)

This changeset should have not been accepted because it deleted the stop positions of a station relation. AlexTheoto, just click "ignore" if iD insists that you change the stop positions to "railway=stop": they are not correct.

Hello, you have seemed to add a lot of rings with the tag "man_made=pipeline". I wonder what are you trying to represent? Maybe I can find a better tag for that.

Oops, I meant the Old NH9 in the changeset comment.

I have had to revert this changeset because we have no cable car or similar aerialway there.

Even if a rest area exists, that does not always mean that they are open if they are fenced off (e.g. osm.org/#map=19/38.37167/23.28366). In which case you would use something like disused:highway=rest_area and disused:amenity=parking instead. See: osm.wiki/wiki/disused

I think it is only a fraction of all the woodland around the area. It takes a long time just to map a small area of woodland when it is so patchy.

As we have not heard from you in a timely manner, we have reason to believe that a number of your changesets in the Hellinkon area are disruptive, and I have referred this matter to the DWG for the activation of the repair bot.

Oh, I forgot, I extended the translated name in Macedonian for the A1, for consistency's sake.

Okay, here is a replacement comment on your changesets: please double check if the parking rest areas are actually open, because Mapillary reports that some of them are closed and fenced-off.

Actually, scrap the above. My mistake there, sorry. I think there was some confusion with highway=motorway_junction.

71653669 almost 6 years ago

The service area nodes should be on where the slip road leaves the motorway, like in the junctions.

The revert is not working because you missed out the ways and relations, but don't worry, I have asked the DWG to help you (ticket #2020031610000088).

Yes, I know JayCBR meant well, since it was Rick Sanchez C-137 that sort of jumped the gun in the north. ;-)
