Be advised to check information about the legality of mapping activities in China. osm.wiki/China#Legality as a starter.

Still trying to understand how to place small village nodes

Especially when you have deadly slow internet, you should try get JOSM. It may be a one time pain to download, but then you can do most work offline.

Editor Zeitverzögerung

@gnocchi01: Das sieht mir nach Browser-Cache-Problem aus. Leere den mal und probiere es nochmal.

Video + GPS data + Google Earth image

Have you seen http://www.google.ru/intl/ru/landing/transsib/en.html ?
Movie and map are synchronized in both directions.

Got harassed by Ugandan Police for OSM work

A well done leaflet available in several languages about the works and goals of OSM could be more helpful.

Newtyle now exists

I checked my old notes and maps. It was north of Newtyle, where the track crosses the road a second time. I recognize, SreetView is available there and here it was:

Newtyle now exists

In 1988, coming from Dundee at the beginning of a hike around Scotland, I camped a night in the forest after? (maybe "before") passing through Newtyle. I think, it was near a disused rail track dam that crossed the B954 (no bridge left). Ahh... memories... ;-)

New phone with GPS

Frage: Wirrwarr von POIs - Wie entfernen!? Außerdem Fehler korrigiert

Ich glaube, ich poste zuviel in englischsprachigen Foren... :D

NoName simply highlights residential roads without a name.

I love JOSM/Tools/Orthogonalize shape

Hi Igor! Glad to hear it is useful for you. I developed the functionality for JOSM, when I also traced plenty of buildings from Yahoo aerial imagery and wanted a simple way to get the shape nice. The old function could do only rectangles.

Train journeys filmed from the conductor cabin

Hi! As far as I know, German law has always been that copyright need not to be explicitely stated. Since some 20 years, this also holds for countries like the U.S. Have a look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copyright#Obtaining_and_enforcing_copyright

Train journeys filmed from the conductor cabin

Sure a nice way to check and beef up the maps, but isn't it a copyright violation if we use such movies to check and tag OSM data?

House numbering patch: needs work

Something to read:

osm.wiki/index.php/Proposed_features/House_numbers/Karlsruhe_Schema

House numbering patch: needs work

As I pointed out, talk to the render guys about this problem. As said above, housenumbers may not be a vital information for map rendering, but for other applications of the osm-data.
Surely, proper rendering of house numbers isn't trivial. Maybe just render first and last numbers of houses in a block or something like this. Maybe you should put this issue into the osm forum http://forum.openstreetmap.org/

House numbering patch: needs work

You don't map for the renderer. If some useful data isn't rendered nicely, it is a renderer's problem. Give the renderer guys a hint where to look at. But don't remove useful data from the database just because it isn't rendered nicely by one, some or all renderes.
