Changeset When Comment

I fixed it. Road structures and building can never be drawn from aerial imagery (because it is distorted and does not match the real outline on the ground).

Also, you might be interested to know we have detailed imagery for Brussels. If you use the simple online editor, I guess it will select "AIV Flanders" by default but you can change it and use UrbIS imagery.

Hello,
Your edit broke bus route 224. I fixed it.

If your requirement is to see cycle infrastructure on the map, you can use the "Layers" button and use CyclOSM or Cycle Map (alternatively, go to https://opencyclemap.org to have it straight on).

103060851 over 4 years ago

Hello,
The cycle track was already properly tagged as an attribute of the main way (see here: way/318930654).
Sometimes it makes sense to draw a cycle track as a separate way but it must be one or the other, not both.
Also, your edit creates several validation issues: your path crosses other ways without any proper node at the junction, and you moved the border between Brussels and Flanders without any reason.
Can I please ask to to either undo your changes or fix them?
Many thanks.

Hello,

We have a problem with the bridge structure you added.
I couldn’t match your geometry points with any existing source. Perhaps you drew the bridge "by hand" by looking at aerial imagery. Is that right?

In the meantime, I tried to fix this.

Hello,
Welcome to OSM. You seem to have discovered that changing the map is easy.
Your changeset unfortunately created many issues on the map, e.g. the car-park was partly overlapping the supermarket building, brand:* tags are for the supermarket itself and not for parking alleys, and you inadvertently moved the main node for this supermarket
I tried to fix everything I could, maybe you might want to have a look, that will help you for your next edits.
Have a nice day.

Hello, ;-)
This is a follow-up for this story: all the speed signs are gone, this is now officially 30 kph. And there are many speed cushions.
I updated the map.

Hello,
Why did you create so many orphan footway crossings? All those dead-end ways trigger validation issues. I have already spent many hours trying to fix this and connect them to existing footways but it’s a huge time-waster. Any reason for that?

The test has been extended to February 2022.

https://www.brussel.be/sites/default/files/bxl/Besslissing_NL.pdf
I suggest we keep the notes until then.

Hello Pieter,

About half of the streets are still living streets; this is officially still a test, hence there are notes on those roads and proposed:highway=residential to make it easy to restore the situation if it changes.
The other half have been turned back to 30-kph.
OSM data reflects the current situation.

My bet is that the situation will be kept as it is. We are still waiting for an official notice from city authorities.

Hello,
Wouldn’t highway=footway be more appropriate than this whole collection of access tags?
What do you think?

Hello,
Excellent work, thanks! That is true, the situation has probably changed since that last changeset 8 months ago.

Hello,

Maybe you would be interested to write a better title for your changesets.

You created several changes to the map, each one with a generic title such as "Update of the Woluwe area - Acaciawijk". This makes life really hard for other mappers who are keeping track of recent changes.

The recommended way in OSM is to do upload small group of changes and name them properly, such as "I drew some gardens", "This street is now a one-way street", "Added the new cycle lanes", and so on.

Thanks in advance. Happy mapping.

Hello,
I tried to change the areas into multipolygons. And some geometry improvements for the small area near Roodebeek metro entrance #1. The changes will be visible on the main map in a few hours, after the tile server refreshes the tiles.

Hello,
I am sorry but I’ll have to revert part of this changeset.
You deleted most connectors across the pedestrian zone, and this makes most ways unroutable, such as stairs.
Perhaps you might be interested in reading a little more about how OpenStreetMap works before erasing stuff on the map. If you need some advise or guidance, feel free to ask, we have a large community of active users.
Have a nice day.

Hello,
I would strongly advise against splitting or redrawing roads while using the online editor (iD). This tool is not suitable for this, especially when relations are there.
This changeset broke all bus routes here. I fixed it.
Have a nice day.

Hello,
Fixed by changeset/101069016. See discussion on your other changeset nearby.

Reverted. This restaurant was already on the map.
Please refresh your data before attempting to upload stuff.

Hello,
We had to revert your change.
The name will not change overnight. It will only be effective around October 2021. Only then we should change OSM data.
Annie Cordy set as "proposed:name" for the time being.
Have a nice day.

I surveyed it today: most 50-kph signs are still there, except on a short section near where the accident took place.
Mapping from newspaper articles is generally a bad idea, especially here they only spoke about the Region’s intentions to lower the speed.
I reverted 50-kph where applicable. Let’s keep an eye on this area in the next weeks.
Have a nice day.
