Hello,

Make sure to keep the names in sync when you use the operator tag.

The name of the school (way/211697420) is "École Communale de Genval-La Bruyère" but the operator tag you added for the parking area is "École Communale de la Bruyère". One of them must be changed.

Hope this helps.

Hello, and welcome to OSM.

For small places like cafés, pubs, shops… it is better to create a new node and add the tags there, instead of modifying the building itself.

We fixed your edit.

Thanks for the information.

Please observe: we prefer to keep nodes on the database. If a shop has closed, simply remove its tags (shop type, name, phone nbr…) and make it a vacant shop.

Erasing a node from the database is solely for major cases where places are gone entirely (e.g. a razed building that will never come back).

Hello,

I am puzzled to see that you are reintroducing the technical names, e.g. "Nivelles Gare - Quai 1" in the to/from tags of route relations.

Those names are found in GTFS data but usage is to drop those extensions entirely for passenger information (in OSM, local_ref stores the platform number). And to/from tags of route relations must match the name of the first and last stops of route relations, e.g. "Nivelles Gare".

Is this a problem with your imports?

Thanks for adding the music shop.
However, I want to inform you that addresses should not be repeated on the object itself if they are already in the database. All the addresses in Belgium are already on the map, we don’t create duplicates.
Don’t worry, we fixed it.

Hello,

Why do you want to add indoor=yes when tunnel=building_passage is already set?

Did anyone instruct you to do such a thing?

164236817 10 months ago

I need to alert you that what you do in GNOME Maps does not just stay on you own computer but gets uploaded to the public OSM database.

⚠️ It is a very bad idea to reveal sensitive information about yourself. And in any case, such information is not relevant for a public map.

Your edit has been undone.

Thanks for updating the name.
Just one thing: we do not repeat addresses on POI in Belgium, there is already an address point for house number 350 here, and the POI was already linked to it.
I fixed your edit, you don’t have to anything here, but please keep this in mind for future edits.

Hello.

In Every Door, you can change the tags of shops and replace them with the new kind of business replacing them.

This is better than erasing Bibliopolis and creating a brand new node for My Tannour in the same building. We prefer keeping the existing nodes, because we have spent time linking them to entrance doors, and because it is easier to monitor the history of places that change over the years.

Happy mapping.

You have a valid point.

If you think everything should be set back to access=private, you may want to reopen note/4684538 so that we can also get RaphaelPasloin’s opinion, especially his first remark about this being public land.

164170200 10 months ago

OK, thanks for the advice, I restored the sidewalk.

I don’t know if I am expected to have a strong opinion about this "permissive vs. private" tags. It looked fairly natural to open the western sidewalk because it is connected to the stadium; as for the road it can also make sense if people are expected to drop passengers here. No strong opinion about the second sidewalk. For the sake of coherence, we might want to apply the same tags there too.

Hello,

foot=customers is more advisable than access=customers.

access=* is a generic access tag, granting access to *everyone*.

Setting it on a footway can create unwanted results, e.g. navigation software might grant access to motor vehicles… on footways because of that.

We fixed your edit.

Hello,

We received complaints about data corruption here: it turns out you added "Schoofstraat 2" for the address of this restaurant, whereas the node is located inside the building at "Oude Koornmarkt 11".

Did Spritz relocate to Schoofstraat? Should that be the case, we can move the node to its correct location.

Please reply, and we will fix the map.

Thanks for adding opening hours.
But please do not add addresses on places. All the addresses are already on the map and should not be repeated on places, because that creates unwanted duplicates.
I restored the node.

Thanks for adding the school… but school:FR is only to use in France, not in Belgium.
Also, please do not take existing address nodes to create POI, this is not how we map Instead, add a floating node for the school, and add proper tags to it (amenity=school).
We redid your edit here: node/12699396731

Hello,

The fuel station was already on the map.
node/392801669/history

it looks like you mixed up the roof and the amenity itself, because in version #2 it contains both tags.
way/1370933073/history
I think you should just keep this area as a roof, no more.

Hope this helps.

Hello, and welcome to OSM.

Please do not repeat addresses on POI.

Addresses are written on separate objects, we do not replicate them multiple times.

If you see small text boxes for addresses in the simple online editor, please ignore them.

Bonjour @leQwesT.

Merci.
