Talk:Rental
untitled
I created this article as a way to collect the various tagging schemes related to rental in one article. Since they are currently spread out quite a lot. Although I welcome improvements to the article, they should be made in a neutral way that doesn't favor or censor any of the various tagging schemes. --Adamant1 (talk) 23:58, 6 September 2021 (UTC)
Namespaces
Since plenty of shops that rent goods rent multiple things, I'm personally a fan of using namespaces for rentals. (e.g, "rental:{object}=yes" or "{object}:rental=no"). I don't really care if the word rental goes first but I think using namespaces is, by far, the most extensible way to indicate whether or not a rental is available someplace. I'm not going to edit the page here but wanted to put my thoughts in this talk page to memorialize my current thoughts. Further reading Namespace - Osmedit (talk) 20:29, 23 October 2025 (UTC)
- Apparently a blocked user created this page Rental namespace standardisation which I think outlines the problem and proposes a viable solution well. It seems they tried to force this idea upon the wiki (likely why they were blocked) but I do think there is a lot of room for improvement with respect to the tagging schemes used to tag places offering goods for rent. -Osmedit (talk) 20:35, 23 October 2025 (UTC)
