Tag:historic=railway

Denotes a railway or a railway feature of an important historic value. This applies to both active and disused railways.

Usage

Add historic=railway to a railway related feature. Often times, this is added onto a railway=disused (tracks existing) or railway=abandoned (rights of way preserved) but it can also be used on actively used railways e.g. one with railway:preserved=yes (note that the use thereof on railway=razed and similar features is controversial due to the lack of verifiability–even historic cares if traces exist or not). It can also be used on information boards

It's recommend to use historic=railway_station for historic (former) stations or their buildings and historic=railway_car for old railcars instead.
