Once again, nonsensical translations, provocations, and attempts at an editing war. User Oivo357 translates into Czech and Slovak, but does so stupidly and foolishly, using only a machine translator without any knowledge of specific national characteristics and formulations. @Mateusz Konieczny: … Translation "plynů nebo kouře" (gases or smoke) are in the Czech language "splodiny" (exhaust fumes). Here we can see the richness (breadth, variety) of languages. In Slovakia, the term "splodiny" is probably unknown, but in the Czech Republic it is well known. In addition, the term ventilation shaft or exhaust shaft is used for gas extraction, and its height is small, so it is not a chimney. If these are hot gases, then they are already combustion gases, i.e., smoke in the chimney. --HaPe-CZ (talk) 19:46, 25 September 2025 (UTC)

Can you give an exact quote for it? Is it surely completely invalid to be used for chimney? (I am trying to locate some specific "nonsensical translations, provocation" claimed to be done by Oivo357). If "stupidly and foolishly, using only a machine translator without any knowledge of specific national characteristics and formulations" is true then they should be blocked, but I would need to locate some specific problem and confirm it. Ideally it would come in form of link to a specific edit by them and explanation why it was clearly bad (and not stylistic difference or legitimate different phrasing) Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 05:03, 26 September 2025 (UTC)

@HaPe-CZ: Can you link specific edit to OSM wiki with "nonsensical translations, provocations"? If Oivo357 edits are as bad as you claim, it should be easy to do. You can find links in https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/w/index.php?title=Item:Q6852&action=history

Note that Wikipedia definition does not necessarily matches OSM (for extreme case see Forest) though maybe it is not a problem here, also you may have attribution issues (not sure about licensing, but ideally source would be mentioned when copying from Wikipedia)

1. Wikipedia is cited as a general source, so this is not just my opinion. The text from Wikipedia has not been copied; it is a link to the phrase used in the entry (item).
