Hi,

Noticed you tagged pathway with "cycleway=shared_lane" tag. That is incorrect. This tag should be used on roads to indicate that bicycles should share the lane with motor vehicles. See wiki: cycleway=*

If you want to indicate that bicycles should share pathway with pedestrians you should use "segregated=no" tag. See wiki: segregated=no

Pathways tagged with "highway=path" already presume that bike/walk traffic is not segregated, so this tag is redundant.

If I recall they were glued to the corners of a building and were essentially useless,i.e. 100-----100 Bank St. If you see interpolation way without addresses feel free to remove it

Actually I only did it in Ottawa. If you want me to do it in Gatineau as well let me know.

66637066 almost 7 years ago

No. I cleaned up what I was able to find, thanks.

I also draw separate crossing way when sidewalk bends and you can't connect it anyway.

67887265 almost 7 years ago

Hey Danny,
For consistency sake, let's agree on how to map sidewalks when they meet the road.
I think it makes sense to draw a separate crossing way (highway=footway, footway=crossing) on crossings with all-way stops and traffic signals. Otherwise, just connect sidewalk to the road with lower priority.
BTW, if you see missing stop signs/traffic signals - feel free to add them.

Do you mind not deleting an actual existing-on-the-ground disused rail tracks in favor of a proposed railway that is still 5+ years away and that might not even be funded? At least until the tracks are ripped out?
Please re-map it.
Thanks.

Sounds good. I'll leave these to you.
One more thing, I recommend to apply "Building with almost square angles" fix to the buildings you import.
See here for more info: https://lists.openstreetmap.org/pipermail/talk-ca/2019-February/009101.html

Otherwise inevitably OSM police from Europe will show up and question your work.

67640146 almost 7 years ago

OK, I'll keep that in mind.

67640146 almost 7 years ago

Thanks. I see now it's pretty dirty indeed. Should've gone the task manager way.
Feel free to revert it if it's too much of a trouble, I'll create the TM project instead.

67640146 almost 7 years ago

Matt, do you have a list of problems so I can go through them?

Danny, I've been importing minor city datasets for a while with local buy-in. Imported this one by extension. If you have concerns let me know.

Are you sure there are no addresses between 236 and 248 on Paseo private? How do they name their units? ABCD?

66885386 almost 7 years ago

Yeah I mean house numbers 1275, 1279, 1283, etc are not there. If they ever show up no one will be able to find them. That's what interpolations are for.

66885386 almost 7 years ago

Hey Brandon,
Great job adding addresses to buildings in Oshawa. One little thing though, consider NOT deleting address interpolations when there are missing house numbers on a street.
For example if there is ever house number 1275 on this street (somebody builds a duplex for example) nobody will be able to find it without interpolation you've deleted: https://osmcha.mapbox.com/changesets/66885386
Also it appears you are forgetting sometimes to add `addr:street` tags to buildings - those are needed

66338571 almost 7 years ago

SimonPoole: When an existing building has any meaningful tags I always replace geometry preserving history and existing tags. It's only when I encounter a cluster of `building=yes` without any other tags I would delete them.

66338571 almost 7 years ago

It's a high quality dataset from the city and it's square when the building is square and not square when the building is not square.

PS: love your tools and use them all the time, thanks.

Yeah good point. I missed that rule at first and kept dragging for a while. Will switch to import account going forward.

I've never seen "highway=destroyed:path" used before. Taginfo doesn't know about it either: https://taginfo.openstreetmap.org/tags/highway=destroyed:path

The tag you are looking for is "smoothness=impassable". Or you can use "access=no" although I would just use impassable.

Please pay attention to your edits. Both your changesets in Ottawa make no sense
