Also when you map any footways/cycleways/pathway make sure you connect them to something. Otherwise they will be useless for routing.

Hello,

I've noticed you mapped some bike lanes in Toronto. That's great and Toronto badly needs cycling infrastructure to be mapped.

The problem is that historically in OSM we are mapping painted bike lanes that are not physically separated from the road as a cycleway=lane tag on the road itself. See OSM wiki: osm.wiki/Bicycle

In Ottawa we compiled a guide how to map various cycling infrastructure with Canadian specifics. Have a look: https://github.com/BikeOttawa/OSM-Bike-Ottawa-Tagging-Guide

Hi,
This sign is for cars and it means "Bicycle crossing ahead", so it doesn't permit cycling on sidewalks unfortunately.

What are you thoughts about updating OCT routes to Public Transit v2 scheme while we are at it? Worth it?

Please stop tagging non-buildings as buildings.
Don't ignore warnings you see.

Hi, thanks for flagging this relation with gaps, I fixed it.
As for using roads in boundaries relations, I see your point but I tend to disagree for some cases.
For example some of our local boundaries, like political wards, are literally defined by roads in the official documents so boundary passes on a centerline of a road. This are the only ones I'm touching.
Are you suggesting snapping boundary ways to highways is the best practice in this case? Because most QA tools would complain for "overlapping ways". Not to mention these overlapping ways can be hard to deal with, especially for new mappers.

Hi, this intersection was fully reconfigured 2 years ago and it was properly mapped before you "fixed" it. See Bing (at lower zoom levels), Esri imagery.
I'll restore it but please don't do it again. Thanks.

Sounds good. Usually if it's just the street name that is wrong you can change the addr:street for the nodes and leave it like that.
If you are positive that house numbers are wrong then sure feel free to delete it.

Is there any reason why you are deleting address interpolations? Please don't.

I think I've already cleaned up most if not all of the duplicates. Thanks for your contribution.

72369959 over 6 years ago

Hi,
You've added many duplicate drinking fountains. Please review your edits.
Also your links to images don't work. Getting error 404.
For images it's best to use Mapillary and mapillary tag: osm.wiki/Mapillary

Are you sure there is a sidewalk on Sebring? Nothing on Bing-2018.

Hi,
Please read Maproullette challenge instructions. It asks specifically to add additional tags. amenity=social_facility is too broad.
Please review your changesets and add these two:
social_facility:for=senior
social_facility=assisted_living

I wouldn't say it's that big of a deal, it just doesn't add much to the map. If you are interested in helping OSM grow I suggest launching iD editor and add some new features around, like pathways, sidewalks, parking aisles, crossings, new buildings, benches, etc. Gatineau could definitely use some help.

I personally like "Highway 416" better because that's how all people I know call it.

Veterans Memorial Highway should be in alt_name

Hello,
Is there any reason you are tagging service roads with lanes=2?
'lanes' tag should ONLY be used on roads with MARKED lanes. That's what it was introduced for specifically and it shouldn't be used to specify that it's a two-way road (it is assumed by default): lanes=*

What's your criteria to differentiate between residential/unclassified?

Here's mine: if most of the houses are within a stone throw from each other then it's residential. Otherwise it's unclassified.

Here's from general wiki:
"highway=unclassified should be used for roads used for local traffic, and for roads used to connect other towns, villages or hamlets." highway=unclassified

Here's from Canadian tagging guidelines:
"An highway=unclassified road would be considered rural roads that are not provincial or national highways network." highway=unclassified

IMO most of our rural roads should be unclassified.

70330952 over 6 years ago

Danny,
Not sure I would classify most of these roads as highway=residential when there are often no residential houses for miles
IMO they are more of a highway=unclassified: highway=residential

What do you think?

Hi,
Pretty obvious "bicyle_parking" key was meant to be "bicycle_parking"
Could've just changed the key...
Just sayin

Sounds good. You should remove `cycleway=yes` tag completely. It's supposed to be used on roads only.

If you want to indicate that this pathway is mostly used by bikes you can change main "highway=path" tag to "highway=cycleway" (just make sure you have "foot=yes" though).
