| 144469366 | over 1 year ago | so now im getting blocked because I forgot to reply to one random comment? why haven't you tried to write another comment a week or so later or send a private message as a reminder to this discussion??? discussion of automated edit?
We're seriously at a point where OTHER people make apparently undiscussed mass edits/imports, I do some rough cleanup, and then I get BLOCKED for doing so?? ..... this level of disrespect is unbelievable |
| 148695728 | almost 2 years ago | No way to fix incorrect features???
If railway=abandoned ways are glued to other features like roads or boundaries, yes, this is incorrect mapping practice and should be fixed - by ungluing, and not just deleting. DWG said one sentence: "don't map nonexisting features", and I generally agree with that, but again, we're talking about clearly existing features. If you are unwilling to discuss controversial changes, then don't do them in the first place, and if you do but don't discuss anything, they will get reverted. So please engage with the changesets where I commented. |
| 148695728 | almost 2 years ago | "painstakingly retraced throughout the length" - Yeah, it's not possible to delete ways in the Id editor without following them. Wow. Features are glued to other features? Then fix it instead of lazily deleting it. If an alignment of a railtrail dosen't follow the rail ROW, then remove the railway=abandoned there instead of the entire trail. Don't forget to reply my other comments on your mass deletions and please explain how the traces I pointed out don't actually exist, like you're claiming ("to make sure no trace exists"). |
| 127837288 | almost 2 years ago | It was discussed on the Osmus slack channel a while ago.
Also names like "X to Y [Pipeline]" are quite common as being the 'official' name. |
| 148528299 | almost 2 years ago | Thanks for the reply. It seems that we have different understandings of what railway=abandoned means.
Not everyone needs to be able to immediatly trace it from the ground - but it should be possible, and it is the case here. The embarkments, tree lines, buildings alignments, railtrails, etc etc etc and heck, even the difference in vegetation color on farmland are still remnants that actually exist on the ground. Those features didn't just came out of nowhere - they're only there because there is/was a railroad right-of-way.
