Virtual tiles@home installed, but is it useful?
Posted by tenzarelli on 26 September 2008 in English.I got the virtual machine "Tiles @ home in a box" installed from
osm.wiki/index.php/Talk:Virtual_Tiles%40Home
It seems to be showing "Error uploading tile_xx_yyyy_zzzz_abcdef.zip" (xx, yyyy etc are the tile numbers):
500 Internal Server Error
Failed to retrieve server queue load. Assuming full queue.
Otherwise it's chugging away downloading tile areas and processing them into tiles. I did have to make sure to use my email address for the OSM login rather than the username.
In the Tiles@Home user page
http://server.tah.openstreetmap.org/User/show/
it says I've processed 36696 tiles, and uploaded 4102Kb, so obviously something is working...
What is this about?
And how can I view my latest edits directly using this nice virtual box, as well as processing the tiles that need to be done?

Using your email adress instead of the login should be documented in the wiki. I put that in a while ago.
Viewing which tiles you did and so one is best done through the webpage you mention, the t@h client doesn't give you those nice stats.
You don't have to care about which tiles need processing, if you run the t@h client in loop mode it will go and ask the server for work to do.
Please not that temporary problem with the server (like status code 500 while uploading) do happen once in a while. Try a couple of minutes later and everything should work again.
