@ZeLonewolf Ya, looks like they went to a sponserd visitor permit access. Different from the last rime i was there. @ElliottPlack only if the roads are inside the gate and access requires a sponsorship. Many bases only require a permit that can be obtained at visitor centers near the main gates. Roads outside the gates are accessable to the general public.

FYI most US military base roads are permit access not private.

I think private parking is used for loading areas now, just didn't have any common tagging scheme when i first mapped the base. the fenced in areas that aren't military motorpools, are mostly used by civilian contractors. more recently I had been marking them as industrial areas.

Do you have a suggestion of what would work better?

87958233 about 1 year ago

further reading for access tags access=*

Access=destination Indicates that traffic is not allowed, but anyone may still use it to reach a destination that can not be reached otherwise. which is NOT what this residential road is used for. the contraflow greenways have no restrictions to traffic and should have no access tags restricting navigation.

once again, ORD tawiways are on a constant change due to construction in different areas. Please don't map the area with old imagery. I use FAA diagrams and Ohare AOA Alerts for current airport layout changes. https://aeronav.faa.gov/d-tpp/2407/00166ad.pdf#nameddest=(ORD) https://www.ordsafe.com/aoa-alert

The city refers to thir network of lanes as Bikeways, a mix of Protected Bike Lanes, and Greenways for neaborhood streets. https://www.chicago.gov/city/en/sites/complete-streets-chicago/home/bike-program.html There is no separate named signage, but it is useful with routing to mark them separate and use the Bikeway term to differentiate them from the main street.

Mary Mix McDonald Woods, is also a named natural wood feature, it is part of the Forest Preserve District of Cook County which outlines the area as a separate feature as a nature preserve, and is managed as part of the FPDCC Botanic Gardens.

same with Blue Star Memorial Woods the woods, the preserve boundaries, and entrance are marked as separate features.

The Miami wood relation is for the forest area itself not the nature preserve. separate features.

see FAA diagrams https://aeronav.faa.gov/d-tpp/2407/00166ad.pdf#nameddest=(ORD) and aoa alerts https://www.ordsafe.com/aoa-alert for most uptodate info.

your changes are using old imagery and old layout of ORD. there is construction going on at ORD and many of the taxiways and features have changed in the last few years. please refrain from making further edits based on old imagery and information.

the issue seems to be with the app you are using. the highway=path tag does not default add bicycle=yes, but if the app you are using makes them appear that way, you should contact the app creator.

I've already answered your question, I do not control the default setting for the editors apps. If a way is not accessible by bike, simply mark it so an move on, if that is what you are focused on. I'm not going to spot check every way marked for accessibility set by the default tags.
