to do that Waitrose problem .The building outline would be tagged Building=yes building=use shop, and you could add the building height ect tags, inside the building outline put Waitrose tag and also the Postoffice tag and the post box tag, this also helps where a building has 2 or more addresses but which is only one building on the ground.

I cant agree on it being just a tag for renderer, as half the day its not sand or mud but "wetland" which is what people will see standing looking out onto water.

oh and you guys are doing a grand job there I just had a look.

mm what if you tag natural=mud or sand then over it another tag of natural=wetland wetland=tidalflat + tidal=yes". that would then show mud with the marsh ontop of it, os do this so can see why we cant. :)

yeah sounds like over tagging. I have yet to see Motorway and foot=no , but its taken as a rule, and route site use this rule.

I think its a good thing, gets osm into more people view, and it does says its OSM map not bings, so most people will know that bing is only using that data from an open source project.

problem here is a there should be a tag for just hotel and another hotel with restaurant bit like the tag we have for parking and parking with a fee

yeah I have also seen powerlines marked on a os maps on one side of the road yet, when I drove past the lines they where about 90m on the other side of the road.

well the way I would do it is the outline of the building is marked as an area with
building=yes
building:use= university
building:name= what ever the name is
you can also add building:height= building:levels= and dont forget source=

now points can be placed inside this building shape to show where the fast food and other Academic departments are.

yeah and if that does not work we can always quote on osm.com that they use OSM data.
