Interesting. Most of the trick could probably quite easily be used with OSM data as well.

My handheld unit is a Mio Digiwalker 168 and it uses the SiRFStarII GPS chipset with a rather large external antenna. 0.8 meters is what the software reports, but when comparing GPS traces with aerial images it looks like it actually is that accurate.
The accuracy on my phone is rarely even enough to be acceptable to OSMtracker.

I have tried OSMTracker and I agree it's a good app. The problem is I seem to get very bad accuracy with my phone. I generally get it down to 6 m. When using my separate GPS unit I get 0.8 meters under the same conditions.

Have a look on the wiki. A lot of tags are proposed. See if there is one that fits or suggest one yourself.

The Bing background made a very noticeable impact on Liepaja in western Latvia. The Yahoo coverage was very low resolution and Liepaja is the third largest city in Latvia. Now it looks like the street coverage is nearly complete (som still tagged as unknown) and house numbers, post offices, ATMs and so on have started to appear.

It may differ on different zoom levels so that is an easy way to test it.

You can easily map using satellite images, but it also needs local input on things like street names and such.

I guess the Yahoo satellite images are of too low resolution to be usable?
