VFR aviation map

Posted by Vgyuri on 17 December 2010 in English.

I want develop a VFR aviation map on the base of Openstreetmap. I have all data of Hungary (airfields, runways, special airspaces, vertical obstackles, powerlines, report and entry points etc.). But in the legend of Openstreetmap has not styles for this object. And if I upload the GPX track, there isn't place for classification of new object (or the label serves this purpose?) What can i Do?

For try-out I uploaded the all grass runways of Hungary. This conatains 42 runway-subtrack (2 point each). The system couples all far short subtrack with long bar. Subtracks are separated with (trkseg) - (/trkseg) and (trk) - (/trk) pairs, but with this I can not divide the big track for subtracks. What can I do?

Have a look on the wiki. A lot of tags are proposed. See if there is one that fits or suggest one yourself.

I delete the airfield tag. But my track contains 42 tracksegment, 2 coordinates in each. This are separated runways on several places of Hungary. The result not separates subtracks and there are long lines between runways. Isn't there possibility to upload more subtracks in one file?

How can i divide a track for subtrack? I have 42 airfield runway in one GPX file. (From OziExplorer 84 trackpoints) I tried use the - , - and - pairs, but after upload all subtracks are coupled with long lines.

I must upload 42 object with 42 separated upload?

Hi, sounds interesting. There is already some Flight Simulation stuff at
osm.wiki/Neat_Stuff

Might be interesting for you :)

I'd say keep the runways as one segment, some good ideas...

aeroway=runway

ref=runway numbers 06/24
surface=paved(if unsure of asphalt,concrete),grass,gravel
maxwidth=
end of each runway ele= is a good idea
the wiki page says length, but really this can be easily calculated from the co-ordinates for the starting and ending nodes.

areoway=taxiway

Taxiways have one track for the same taxiway
osm.wiki/Tag:ref=, osm.wiki/Tag:surface=, maxwidth= tags

aeroway=aerodrome
On the airport itself use the iata= icao= codes

One of tried variations: all runway in one segment, separated by trk - /trk tags. The bars between runways as the original multisegment version.
The result visible in this track:

Sorry. If I can solve this basic problem, all other data are in my databook.

Do You have a track with correctly separated subtracks, e.g with runvays?

Due to limitations in the GPX parser, each "subtrack" needs its own GPX file. To simplify uploading 42 files, see osm.wiki/Batch_Upload for some options (or osm.wiki/GPX_Upload_Client if you prefer PHP).
