Changeset When Comment
75201755 about 6 years ago

here are a few examples. if one searches one will find several hundred i have marked as resolved (useless for osm)

note/1944749
note/1944871
note/1945120
note/1947024
note/1945139
note/1943268
note/1936151
note/1944680
note/1945551
note/1941547
note/1946364

apologies for my choice of language, but it is easy to use this derogatory term to get an up-to-date count of how many osm notes i have resolved pointing to end-user map difficulties:

wget -O - "https://api.openstreetmap.org/api/0.6/notes/search?q=fakebook&limit=10000&closed=-1" | grep -e "^<note" | wc -l

261

because i have seen that other mappers are resolving these, and that my language skills are very limited, my guess is that the number may be twice this.

i hope this helps.

the weird thing is that tiger:name_base_1 is still present appearing in the TIGER 2018 background at different zoomlevels.

then again this is an untouched area of osm, with clear offsets of the POIs against imagery.

there is a POI for an elementary school but only displayed when zoomed in, again offset from the possible location, and thus i find it quite plausible this would have a name School (Road?) to indicate this is where you turn off to get to said school.

the Font Of All Knowledge returns a blank so i don't know how out-of-date the imports are or if this is just too remote for Thee Internet or if my google-fu hath runneth out again.

nonetheless, a remote mechanical edit like this should not be carried out, a local survey is required to make changes that are not just guesses. there is bad data and there is worse data.

and now that i actually look at the changeset tags lacking the host= key, it's obvious you are from amazon.

hard to keep up with these sorts of things...

This changeset has been reverted fully or in part by changeset/75230816 where the changeset comment is: at mapper request, undelete private residential driveway for re-tagging as what it is. good luck :-)

isn't this time the thrid time we've been through this? i would think by the thrid time it would be obvious, the thrid planet from the sun.

Moses Minor: Unless ye do grant release to these, the prisoners of your vile enslavement which is called Greyfriars, there shall be sorely visited three horrendous plagues throughout the land. And the first of these shall be the plague of mappers' complaints. And the second shall be the plague of typing mistakes. And the thrid [sic!] shall be (pause, audience reaction), well, a plague yet more devastating than all the others put together. Thus I have spoken, and thus it shall come to pass.

am i guessing correctly the heritage centre would be off army heritage drive, near army heritage trail(s), where there's a stonking big car park and a vast empty void?

ah, when i look at imagery, i see a couple unmapped buildings. (more, looking at mapbox aerials) i take it one or more would comprise the as-yet unmapped heritage centre?

what, exactly, is the reason why the present mp boundary - relation/6972922 - should not include it? seems logical to me that it would be part of a military (army) area. from your request, i take it there is an access issue?

oh, i think i see a row of landmines. can't make out a fence though where i'm looking.

gracias...

why is this still happening? these edits were made between 14 and 12 hours ago, joe responded to comments about the same issue a day ago and should have learned from that.

it's almost as if facebook doesn't care about osm, with their own mapping app being broken for over a week and instead of fixing it, they've been dumping hundreds of user complaints into anonymous osm notes around the world. sorry, been fighting those the last week.

i also agree it's too easy to turn maproulette into a bunch of mechanical turks (sorry) to carry out an unthinking mechanical edit, when it should be obvious this task should only apply to amenity=school, and not shops, bus stops, or anything else.

rant over. i need sleep, otherwise i get irritable.

and two bigger ones -- the use of a description tag to deliver advert copy, shortened into something meaningless and useless for osm, but more critically, the use of multiple throwaway accounts which is a violation of the osm guidelines, when a single account should be used for all such user edits.

how is it that iD is leaving behind broken turn restrictions when one member is deleted? do other editors do this? does iD even warn about this? this seems to be happening far too often from the comments on detected brokenness i am seeing several times daily.

75198676 about 6 years ago

to be deleted as misplaced spam. what is up with these housenumbers? is this revenge for how i handle notes like note/1946052 or others that are even on land like note/1945353 ?

This changeset has been reverted fully or in part by changeset/75205271 where the changeset comment is: undo careless could not care less SEO damage to roads. node was updated so deleted separately.

75199716 about 6 years ago

got that backwards. this node has no place here, and i won't relocate it for a lazy seo spammer. this is as bad as google maps was near me which drove me to osm years ago, and it's sad the reputation of osm accuracy is being damaged by seo spammers who could not care less.

i'll delete the node, with pleasure, ending with a maniacal laugh. others are welcome to spend^H^H^H^H^Hwaste their time fixing it. cheers.

75199716 about 6 years ago

oh, and more importantly, this address is given as 607, while if i can trust the address across the street of the cycle shop, the real addresses for this area should be in the 100s. i may have to check further. i deal with a lot of notes spamvertisements nowhere near the actual business.

75199716 about 6 years ago

the description left behind really adds nothing of value. it states things totally irrelevant to osm.

75123970 about 6 years ago

my guess is streetcomplete is using access=yes to show it was surveyed and known to be so, whilst leaving access untagged could lead to lingering nagging doubts as to whether it needs to be checked (again and again and again...)

75194030 about 6 years ago

got it, way/100707482/history

i don't expect to see english in the name= tag here, is that right?

i do see the english displayed looks pretty iffy, with unwanted abbreviations and ALL CAPS as well as a typo in Kimg Faysal ST

i am only aware of a few customs like in india where english is used, sorry

75194030 about 6 years ago

i see nothing technically wrong; the data i looked at had the english only in name:en

however, when i see the map, i'm seeing english displayed, or - tile mismatch...
half Ba and the rest arabic.

i think i need to look into this...

75199974 about 6 years ago

this had been incorrectly tagged as a residential highway. the correct thing to do would be to change it to highway=service, service=driveway, and optionally add access, but by default residential driveways can be considered private plus depending on micromapping, parts of it may be open to the public when a separated pavement (a sidewalk for you septics ;-) comes into play.

i also think i saw a name added by the import, you may want to delete that if wrong.

if you want, i can restore from your deletion and you can change the tags, but i've seen many TIGER imported driveways that would be better retraced from aerial imagery.
