| 73474274 | over 6 years ago | i seriously doubt that two stonkin' yuge fences are to be installed as mapped across a public highway, blocking all access. further nothing should be added to the map before it exists. the date you give is nine months in the future. |
| 67299214 | over 6 years ago | thanks andy; huh, now even though the `way history' doesn't work, this time i was able to pull up the `h'istory, which did not seem to work, probably poor network connectivity issues at that time, as sometimes it takes several minutes to appear. i'll try to be more patient next time. thanks. |

| 67901033 | over 6 years ago | hoi johann, the way you point out is at the first edit, v1, and is how you have uploaded it. it is possible that someone may have moved nodes making up this way, which will leave a history trail, so those points will be at v2 or greater. i'm a bit lazy to write a script to check every node in this way, but if you suspect an area has been vandalised or manipulated, my editor offers a built-in history function callable for each selected node, as moving a node will increment its version. |
| 68078298 | over 6 years ago | hallo johann, i have taken the liberty of passing your way into https://osmlab.github.io/osm-deep-history/#/way/222431775 to see if there have been significant geometry changes. nothing i see can be called a simplification. i also viewed the entirety of way/222431775/history . there are no deleted nodes from this way, which would indicate a different simplification. the editor i use offers two types of simplification. one is called `straighten way' and anyone who uses it will probably be desperately reaching for the undo function or aborting the session. the other function is in fact called simplify, and it performs a tunable mathematical transform by reducing accuracy and node count. it means that curves traced from the high-resolution aerials available in the tirol get mangled into angled chunky things. i had experience witnessing a mapper systematically applying this so-called improvement to paths up the prochenberg along the ybbs valley, i'm guessing still in niederösterreich. by reducing the accuracy to 3 metres, points were moved well outside the 2-3m path, and of course detail at intersections got lost. i believe i reverted these non-improvements. the purpose of such a function is not to degrade hand-mapped details, but to process mechanically collected gps data, like a point every 5 seconds along a straight line. or the raw gpx data uploaded recently in russia where it seems someone went off-road to a river picknick site, uploading dozens of points at the same place at the end. so yes, it is possible to lose detail, and it should not be done to manual traced data, but i see no evidence of that here. i will also look at your earlier comment in the hope it is also unjustified, but when it is documented as a loss of detail, i will take the needed action. |
| 67299214 | over 6 years ago | okay, he sighs in disgust seeing that potlatch1 fails to offer me a trivial way to go from the just-as-bogus v4 to a sane v2. i mean, this is nowhere in the area of the spammed business and i don't even know how i spotted it. off i go to brush up on the commndline tools and resolve that if i ever meet up with these bastards that the resulting video should be banned from youtube. and grønland still isn't for sale. is there an alt.mapper.recovery group about for a proper outlet for a general disgust with humanity that is unsuitable for osm. seems i am inevitably drawn to this way of thinking. |
| 71702134 | over 6 years ago | martin, click on this link that appears repeatedly in pascal's replies: note the Send Message link that appears at the top: osm.org/message/new/pitscheplatsch this has the advantage/disadvantage that your comms with pascal are private, whereas i would like to brainstorm in public about me hairbraned ideas for his site i use heavily for fighting Notes abuse and vandalism, like adding a worldwide last-1000 link in addition to the per-country top-1000 links, to help me when the persistent cyrillic vandal wanders into the ukraine, or usian new mexico. i notice here in the displayed bbox that to the southwest, there is a Recktory that to me eyes has one consonant too many. but that is off-topic to this already off-topic discussion. cheers |
| 73717335 | over 6 years ago | i should note that under tags
google maps, regardless of top-level domain, may not be used in any way for osm. i suggest this changeset be redacted like other google-sourced contributions. |
| 60129640 | over 6 years ago | oh feck me, the open note was note/1457062 so there must have been multiple notes as i also see too often. really sorry. |
| 60129640 | over 6 years ago | hallo,
i'm only mentioning it because as i systematicallly troll around ireland, i'm finding a lot of these open notes pointing at things on the map. thanks, and sorry |
| 73525180 | over 6 years ago | by the way, i noticed when you created way/715674760/history and copied the tags from relation/6768395/history , it looks like you used the value from the addr:suburb field that is lacking in your new entry, instead of the previous value for alt_name. |
