Hoi dikke,
do you know whether maps.me even gives users enough language ability beyond apparently name, name;en, and the native name;ru, to arbitrarily add french?
also, the russian `names' read to me as at best descriptions. same with the english used.
it may well be this user intends these more for personal use, rather than a slight against other cultures.
presumably the zipline in osm is newer than the maps.me data snapshot.
what is that saying about good mappers, and blaming tools, except when maps.me is involved?
merci, und weiter so...

yes, but then do you know a good way to get the spots out?

Am i reading this right? Tante Google has no problem finding Vaterberg used in lots of nearby places within sight.
Ötscher (slawisch) means Väterchen thus Vaterberg

Hallo willebrord,
When researching this issue some years back, every single reference i could find all linked back to osm data.
for a legitimate name, i expect to be able to find some mention that is completely independent.
that automated weather services and the like have dumped osm with errors, means it is no surprise that these errors can be found in realty listings or weather reports for misspellings or totally bogus names.
i see this when attempting to research obvious US TIGER data errors for a popularity check, where worse, TIGER was used by google and directly by other services.
Just as osm seeks to obtain correct data, jt should not keep around the bogus data that can still be found elsewhere, cached in print, in outdated maps.me dumps, or in unvetted unmaintained database dumps. osm has reached the point it is taken too seriously to allow that. the amount of undiscovered pokemon fake data is a threat as much as this.
it is impressive to see that osm is no longer a niche product, but that means to me the integrity of osm data is that much more important, and osm cannot simply give in to accepting errors that have made it public here but nowhere officially.
it is not so much that the name is not official, but it sees no use outside of osm circles, not even by a portion of the public, and deserves to be handled like other osm fiction.
if that makes any sense.

Mornin', Ferda Mravanec, Stalker 13 checking in here and sounding off.
Methinks in the time you spent replying, you could have fired off a quick mail or call to the management and gotten a permission that would have been fine.
.
There is much that is debate-worthy, and while I would expect that a mall whose main business is not mapping would be fine with promoting their tenants, today I read of a case elsewhere a different interest business has made a copyright complaint. Better safe than sorry.
.
Copyright exists by default on everything published, unless specified otherwise. Further, while it may not be the case for you that individual facts can be copyrighted, in other jurisdictions, a collection of them can be, or comprises a protected database.
.
What you feel is no substitute for official permission, where here I feel a casual `no problem' via phone call is fine, but for a larger scale action, like the attempt to bulk import worldofstadiums.com and similar sites with a business interest depending on visitor clicks, I expect a more substantial waiver is necessary.
.
Ultimately, each mapper is responsible for their sources. Just because you feel a large amount of data is likely not 100% sound does not give you licence to do the same, but at least you are documenting your sources in case of later questions, your justifications being irrelevant to a copyright complaint, should one materialise. Which we hope will not happen, but not everyone views things the same way.
.
But is it better to have mapped and been redacted?

Seeing additional info about the node, I plugged a guessed correction of Tumbler Ridge, along with the phone number format plus postal code bringing Canada to mind, and the first google text search result was the Wikipaedia page confirming the postcode and phone area codes.
The URL in the data upon later look seems to confirm the misspelling.
To drag a node all the way from Florida into Canada does not seem to be something the average in-browser editor can do well.

No problemo.
Do note that in both cases, the revert action was not 100% successful, so you may find a bit here and there that needs to be fixed by hand,
Not too much, but just to keep in mind as you work further in this area.

also, what do the fields like copyrights=AAP and google_id have to do with the OSM requirements for non-encumbered data?
It seems the source of the data is tainted or not allowable, and here I would suggest a revert to v2, considering I could not find useful licence info about mapk.in with a google text search, and this seems to be a dump from that database.

Hi Adamant,
could you address note/1437191 pointing here?
I suspect a recreational_ground tagging would fit better than commercial or the park it had been, and a lot of GNIS and similar tagging info got lost too.
I would detach the area from all the ways meself, but that's not something I can do from either the commandline (which would restore this to a park) or a Real Editor (memory is tight at the mo', iD only fractionally works in selected browser, Potlatch does not offer simple commands to do so)
thonks
