Ich wollte deine Notiz [1] erledigen, sehe hier aber das du schon ein Knot mit barrier=yes zugefügt hasst. Dieser hat aber kein Effekt, weil er nicht Teil der Waldstrasse ist. Routing Funktionen beachten nur Knoten die Teil der Strasse sind beim. Ich werde dass jetzt korrigieren und später die Änderungen hier ausstellen.

You're fixme tag on the paths to Vorder Glärnisch has been fixed. I was there last Wednesday, nice one :). But more importantly, Kanton Glarus has recently released their imagery with an open license. Especially the 2017 version has great detail and it barely has deformations due to the slopes. So this allowed me to map every zigzag.

I bumped into your changeset because I am adding some changes in the same region which I surveyed last Sunday. Thanks for helping out with OSM. It is perfectly fine to add difficult paths to OSM, there are also die-hard hikers and mountaineers using OSM :-). There are special tags you can add to the ways to mark the difficulty level. Very typical in Switzerland is the scaling from the Swiss Alpine Club [1], but it is actually used one OSM a lot abroad as well [2].
Instead of using highway=footway (which is more applicable to paved ways), more appropriate would be highway=path which already implies that the surface is not necessarily stable. More info is here [3].
In general I would advise to browse through the wiki.openstreetmap.org a lot, it is the place where all tags are documented. Since it is all open-source and crowd sourced, at some point you can even propose new tagging ways.

I was on the ridge coming down from Schildhorn last Sunday, and it seems there is something resembling a path in the sence that sometime somebody may hike there. But it is poorly visible to a large extent. I have therefore added trail_visibility=bad & sac_scale=demanding_mountain_hiking to it and removed your fixme tag.

Danke für dein Antwort. Am besten ist man viel unterwegs und hat man wenig zeit für diese Berichten :-). Das wichtigste ist das man irgendwann mal antwortet.

Ich bin selber nicht so bekannt mit der iD Editor, bin seit Jahren auf JOSM umgestiegen. Aber ich sehe ähnliches bei andere Benützer von iD, so nehme an das der Editor nicht ganz klar macht was alles bedeutet. Schlussendlich ist der Wiki leitend, und sollte iD seine Beschreibungen darauf anpassen. Das passiert aber nicht immer ganz gut.

Die SAC Skala benütze ich selber separat von die markierte Wanderwege. Markierte Wanderwegen können in Relations erfasst werden sowie hier [1] auf der Wiki erklärt. Hier [2] gibt es ein Beispiel für die Markierte Route ab Stäuber bis Usser Äbnet der ich vor eine Woche erfasst habe. Die Standard osm Website stellt diese leider nicht dar, aber es gibt mehrere andere Websites (wie waymarkedtrails.org) und Apps (wie OSMand) die diese Routen darstellen (oder wo mann die anschalten kann).
Das Pfad selber geb ich nicht immer ganz der gleichen sac_scale. Oft gibt es kurze Strecken die z.B. T3 sind weil das grösste Teil der Strecke nur T2 ist. Dass kann man dann trennen und separate einstufen (wenn man möchte natürlich).

Ich möchte dir gerne empfehlen regelmässig der Wiki anzuschauen für weitere Infos.

I was hiking in and around Engelberg myself recently, nice place. I noticed you added this relation named Yellow Diamond when I was updating my findings into OSM. Since I mainly focus on hiking routes, I saw some opportunity to enrich this route relation and correct it to the tagging guidelines for the local walking network (lwn) in Switzerland. If you want to contribute to this route network, I suggest you have a look at the wiki [1].

Muss ein schöner Tour gewesen sein zum Spannorthütte. Ich war selber vor zwei Wochen noch der Surenenpass übergekommen von Brüsti bis Engelberg und habe erfahren wie wunderschon die Umgebung dort ist. Weil ich jetzt meine eigene Befunde von den Tour auf OSM zufüge habe ich auch deine OSM Änderungen bemerkt.
Ich sehe das du die Pfaden als highway=footway getagged hast. Die Tagging Richtlinien auf der wiki [1] stellen das footway nur in städtische Gebiete verwendet werden soll, für Fusswege die auch mit Stöckelabsatz zu begegnen sind :). In der Aussenbereich, wo die Fusswegen nicht geputzt und gepflegt werden soll highway=path verwendet werden.
Ich sehe auch du hasst Access Tags verwendet als bicycle=no, motor_vehicle=no, horse=no. Ich kann mich nicht errinern das es bei Stäuber an die Brücke Schilder gab das Velos und Pferde da nicht erlaubt sind. Meinst du das das Pfad nicht fahrbar ist für Velos? Die Access tags melden das es nicht erlaubt ist. Sehe auch [2]. Wenn es nicht befarhbar ist für Velos (auch MTB) kannst du vielleicht besser der tag mtb:scale=6 verwenden [3].

I will now try and restore the situation to the actual situation as I've observed it on location in June 2018 and again in June 2019.

Since very recently there is imagery available from Kanton Glarus in 2017. On this one you can already see the path I've drawn. But also this is 2 years ago, stuff changes all the time, so be aware.

For the way you deleted [1] you could then have found that it has only been created 6 months earlier in June 2018. The DigitalGlobe Premium imagery from this location is from 2012 so definitely heavily outdated...

Please keep the discussion within the changeset, so it is transparant for others too. I was on holiday and then busy with putting all the info gathered during those days onto OSM.
You have to be very careful with when you work with imagery only. Typically the imagery is outdated by the time it becomes available to use in OSM. Before you start making changes based on the the imagery it is wise to make sure that the items on the map are not newer than the imagery. You can inspect any item (node, way, relation) by means of the function 'Query features' which you can see on the right in the regular map view. It's the arrow with question mark.

No idea frankly .. been a while with those changes, I’mn just a basic ID editor user in the web, nothing elaborate .. usually using the digiglobe fotos. Only trying to make things better usually. I prefer a couchmapped path to a nonexistant one. Not trying to destroy anything obviously, though.

Danke für dem Hinweis, dass ist sehr wertvoll. Es war ein anstrengender Tour, von Ober/Niederurnen über Fridlispitz, Riseten, Lochegg, Wageten und Brüggler zum Chopfenberg, und dann runter nach Innerthal. Wir haben so viel wie möglich über den Grat gewandert und gekraxelt. Es war sehr Geil, aber manchmal auch ein wenig beängstigend...

In this changeset you have changed the hiking route relation Scheidegg - Schattentafel by removed two ways from it and adding two others. I wonder how you can have the info to 'Couchmap' this, as it can typically only be found on the ground. Could you please share information about the source you used for this edit?

Hi Voonosm,
Couchmapping is dangerous especially in the (high)mountains. The imagery is so much skewed here that at maximum it gives a general idea of the shapes but says nothing about actual positions. In this changeset you moved Fridlispitz and aligned it to the imagery. However a survey by myself on Sunday revealed that the position before your edit was pretty accurate and yours is about 50 meters off.
Please keep this in mind for your next couchmapping adventure :-).
