Hi. that was an accident since the changeset on GoMap referenced that I deleted a building node in the ocean. Would you be able to restore it?

Hey if anyone is checking, this was supposed to be two changesets. Half in Astoria and half in Manhattan by Lexington and 59 st. I am currently doing a walking survey on my way to 41st street

Hi innoventions can you please share what you did in the Rikers Island project a few months back? I’m looking at the different fencing mapped around 2016 and the footways inside the George Motchan detention center are from 2011. Based on the 2018 Mapbox imagery it looks like the building outline has retracted. I don’t want to change the building outline if you had access to much more recent imagery.

Hi Ezra are you referring to the pharmacy (your business?)

Thank you for letting me know but all you have to do is save and leave a descriptive changeset. I was in Cedarhurst a while back to do a field survey so I must have passed Ezra Pharmacy. Thank you for your contribution to OpenStreetMap

Thanks for the catch! I was tagging a bunch of houses/garages in JOSM and this one slipped.

I'm open to that suggestion. I was going off the nearest neighborhood names using the wikimedia map layer in JOSM for bus lines in neighborhoods i'm not too familiar with.

Also I wasn't sure if using the MTA website directly would violate the rules about using open data. Not entirely sure.

Hi I came across this large development and wanted to ask about the source for your changeset. I see you used Bing imagery to mark the buildings under construction. I personally find the Mapbox to be the most up to date in NYC. Do you have access to a more recent Bing imagery source? From my experience Bing (using iD) looks to be a few years behind whereas Mapbox is at least from Summer 2018. Is 'Modern Ages' the name of the development?

Thank you so much for helping to map the buildings and not just the roads in OSM!

Yeah the road is closed off to cars and as of yesterday there were tables and chairs set up by the subway entrance. Not sure if a better tag exists but yeah you can eat outside at Herald Square on the street surface

Please do! I mainly wanted to get the route relations on the most recent version. I have been mapping the physical platforms in NYC for years but never really had an opportunity to work on the relations. One of my goals is to have applications like OSMAnd using the Public Transport data in a serious way.

Happy to help out. I am not sure how OSM will get the GTFS tags since those are maintained by MTA.

Hi Edward I came across the Jackson Triplex Theater and noticed that the building the node was on has been cleared since 2018. I’m going to pay a visit but I think the building and theater is no longer there.

Hello MxxCon, I am not sure where your quote came from (its not on the sidewalk page that you included) I've been mapping extensively throughout the city using the separate way method. I've spoken to other NYC mappers (groups like BetaNYC for example and Mayor's Office for Disabilities) who prefer the separate way as it is more useful for pedestrian routing than the tag on central highway method. And please note there is an active task manager that I'm overseeing which is directing people to map this way. https://tasks.openstreetmap.us/project/224?task=395

This quote was copied directly from the Sidewalk as a separate way.
"Currently approved and more prevalent approach is to map each sidewalk as separate ways using highway=footway + footway=sidewalk, which is a hint for renderers that may be used for special handling of sidewalks. Use footway=crossing for places where the footway crosses a street and place a node at position of the kerb/curb tagged with kerb=* and its type, which provides useful information for wheelchair navigation."

Hey MxxCon,

That was a mistake, sorry! I was trying to paste copies of previous bus stops to preserve the route_ref=* tag while changing the name using GoMap. I will remove the bench tag on those two nodes you identified. Thanks for checking it on OSMCha :)

Hello please revisit this changeset. The footpath is drawn straight through a residential area and does not follow satellite imagery. Please correct the geometry

I rode them the other night! Very happy the DOT made this call to put them in!

Hi Nitram,

I noticed that you have been active adding buildings in Rockville Centre, NY. Just curious are you a Long Island mapper? Earlier this summer I set up a task manager to track the mapping in the Town of Hempstead. Please check it out and consider mapping some of the tasks so we can get to 100%. Please also consider joining the Slack channel #local-newyorkstate https://tasks.openstreetmap.us/project/200?task=918

HLGross, your description sounds like it would be most appropriate for a node, not the way (or road) in front of the store. Please remove the description from Franklin Avenue and place it on the correct position.

Hi Tyler,

I know I am not the only user on OpenStreetMap to notice that you swap names of the intersection with the route_ref value. Can you you please share what you are intending to do? According to overpass.turbo I have mapped 3818 bus stops in NYC and 1440 in Nassau. Are you planning to changing them all to their bus routes like Q1 or N4? My understanding from the OSM wiki page is that we are discouraged from mapping for a particular rendering programs and instead mapping the intersections as that makes them easier to search and unique enough to place them in bus route relations.

the changeset notes were incorrectly entered. During this edit, I added or modified existing stop signs along to Broadway.

Hi Tyler,

I ran some validations by Forest Park and noticed the way (656242493) in this changeset. Did intent to include more information about this area? I was going to delete it but since you are an active NYC mapper, could you explain what you were planning to do here?

Hello Elodiesx, I see from OSMCha that you are new mapper to OSM. Welcome! In the future please refrain from saving changesets that span the entire globe. It makes verifying your work difficult. For better results and easier changesets to review please limit your edits to smaller areas such as individual towns, villages or cities.
