My Edits for May 17 - 19, 2009
Posted by chindogu on 19 May 2009 in English. Last updated on 20 May 2009.I am creating these lists as reference for myself, mainly because I haven't figured out how to save comments on a changeset.
The edits below were all done in Potlatch which I'm still trying to figure out. In the future I plan to work in JOSM but I haven't updated to the latest version and also need to add a necessary plugin.
https://www.openstreetmap.org/changeset/1216257 :: 7 nodes, 1 way :: Tempe, Arizona, US
Hurricane was showing me how to use Potlatch so we made these very minor edits around the library.
https://www.openstreetmap.org/changeset/1219321 :: 7 nodes, 2 ways :: Tempe, Arizona, US
Just a few edits around the Southern & McClintock intersection.
https://www.openstreetmap.org/changeset/1242440 :: 62 nodes, 14 ways :: Tempe, Arizona, US
Edits around the Baseline & McClintock intersection and a school near Guadalupe west of McClintock.
https://www.openstreetmap.org/changeset/1244570 :: 148 nodes, 25 ways :: Port Angeles, Washington, US
Found that there is much clean up work and additions needed in the Port Angeles area. I wish I had been using OSM when I was staying there last summer! I made some handwritten maps while I was there but I'm not certain that I kept them. I have a good spacial memory so I should still be able to do quite a bit.
https://www.openstreetmap.org/changeset/1245663 :: 1 node, 0 ways :: Port Angeles, Washington, US
Just an extra node for PA.
Unnumbered Changeset :: 1,000,000 nodes
It's only 2:30 am right now. Over 21 hours left in the day! Wild horses couldn't keep me away...
I understood Potlatch much better after working on Port Angeles but I still have far to go. For instance, I can't figure out how to close/save when I am finished. On the last edit I tried hitting 'C' and the box popped up to make closing notes. I clicked save (tried twice) but it shows as "still editing". Plan to look into this tomorrow (i.e. later today).

Potlatch doesnt need a save button. All edits are committed to the database as soon as you deselect an added/edited node/way. And C does bring up the Changeset Comments, so thats where you can put your edit comments.

Switch to merkaator which gives you the possibility to add a comment. It's better to work with in all aspects compared to Potlatch. I'm using Potlatch for very small changes only.

dmuecke: "in all aspects" - that's a bit sweeping, isn't it? I wouldn't agree (obviously).

Aha! Another potlatch hotkey that I knoew nothing about! Any chance of some more buttons on the interface, Richard, so that it doesn't take insider knowledge to do these things? :)

@petzlux: What should I do when I am finished editing in Potlatch? I can click on another tab, but when I return to 'My Edits' page the Changeset ID# shows as "Still Editing". If I click back to the "Edit" tab the red box on bottom right still reads "Editing Map".
@dmuecke: Thanks for the recommendation. I read about Merkaator on this [osm.wiki/Comparison_of_editors Comparison of Editors] page. I'd like to play with JOSM first because I know some other people using the program. Next time I see them I will ask questions.
@Richard :)
@daveemtb: This list of [osm.wiki/Potlatch/Keyboard_shortcuts Potlatch Keyboard Shortcuts] should be helpful.
