"Ei van Van Rompuy"

Very funny… but please do not do that anymore.
This is considered as vandalism.

Hello,
Thanks for this. Good to add name:fr and name:nl but in Brussels the name tag uses both FR and NL names, not just FR. I updated the names for all the water bodies you found.

Hello,
This is supposed to be a temporary situation, right?
Do you know how much time it is supposed to last. If it’s only a test for a couple of weeks, we should rather not put it into OSM. Especially because your changeset has broken many public transport routes here.

Hello and thanks for replying.
Yes bd M. Herbettelaan has a cycle track with proper road signs, there is no discussion about that.
I was talking about Square des Vétérans Coloniaux/Koloniale-Veteranensquare. More precisely the middle of the roundabout.
In Belgium, inside cities (bebouwde kom), any elevated structure is assumed to be a sidewalk, for exclusive use by pedestrians. It can only be overriden with a sign (D7, D9, D10, F103…). On a sidewalk you do not need a sign to *prohibit* cyclists to use it. It is prohibited by default.
(Incidently, he news article is about pedestrian zones in the city centre; in that area there are F103 signs with a bicycle sign.)
I’ll try to go there in the next days to check about whether there are any signs at all.

Hello,
The building named "Maison du Peuple" by Horta was demolished in 1965.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maison_du_Peuple
The building you see in OSM is a new building but we cannot call it "Maison du Peuple".

59579977 over 5 years ago

I undeleted the building.
The way I understand it, Oraduin deleted the whole building and drew a new building from scratch from AGIV aerial imagery for Flanders.
This is an unfortunate choice for two reasons:
1) Objects in OSM have historical data attached to them, erasing a building that is still there is a destructive action.
2) In Brussels we have official UrbIS numerical imagery for the outline of buildings—no need to use aerial imagery for that purpose.
I suppose this is the kind of mistake someone would do for a first edit.
I restored the former object and checked its outline, and preserved other changes brought by Oraduin, e.g. using amenity=university.

72578617 over 5 years ago

Hello,
building=university is fine.
But why did you remove amenity=university? By doing that, you completely erased this school from any map of schools and universities.
AFAIK, the school still exists.
Any thoughts?

88852798 over 5 years ago

Hello.
Sorry but I had to erase this.
There is a cycle lane here in the first meters, then it merges with the bus lane.
In OSM we draw roads and add tags stating what’s along with it (how many lanes, bus lane, cycle lane, etc.). Drawing cycle tracks separately is only when it follows a completely different itinerary away from the main road.
Don’t worry, your other edits are usually fine.

Hello,
Thanks for adding more stuff to the map.
I have a question about this cycle track: way/833362853

Using construction=yes on a way is incorrect tagging.
My question: is this way currently unavailable (i.e. major works preventing anyone from using it)? In that case, we should consider highway=construction + construction=cycleway.
Thanks.

Hello,
I surveyed this today and couldn’t find any trace of this point.
If you use the "inscription" tag, we should expect a text written somewhere (inscription=*).
There is no visible landmark here.
Does this point derive from a calculation? What use does it serve on the map?
Thanks.

90286854 over 5 years ago

Hello,
I reverted your edit.
You changed the capacity for the part with the wide stands (along the multicolored wall). There are only 80 stands on that side, I counted them myself.
There might be 800 spaces for the whole station. I have carefully surveyed this space and drawn separate zones because they are not the same type of stands and some are guarded.
You can help by providing accurate figures for each of the existing parts and fill accordingly.
If you don’t know how to do this, you can leave a note on the map.
Thanks.

Hello,
Please do not create random nodes like this.
The bicycle parking is already on the map.
So far we have drawn it as two large zones: the locked one operated by Cyclo and the free access one on the other side.
Do you know the capacity of each side? That way, we could update the capacity and delete this node.
Thanks.

I walked around Square des Vétérans Coloniaux/Koloniale-Veteranensquare quite recently. The small park in the middle of the roundabout is exclusively for pedestrians.
Has something changed recently? Did you really survey that place?

90073011 over 5 years ago

Hello,
I suggest you ignore "fixes" suggested by iD.
iD is a simple online editor, it can track some mistakes but there are many false positives.
An example here: you created a node to join ways 644843302 and 484533855 near Madou station.
The first one is the cycle track, the second one is an underground corridor inside the metro station.
Even though they "cross" when looked from the sky, they are on different levels. Joining them cause more problems for navigation.
Look at the tags before and please never trust iD blindly.
Happy mapping!

Hello,
Thanks for this.
Are you sure about "inscription" and "ref" keys used on the node?

85146795 over 5 years ago

Hello,
I suppose you are monitoring this area, in case the situation changes in September.

86261844 over 5 years ago

Strange. What bike router are you using? Neither OSRM nor GraphHopper seems to use trunk roads.

86260184 over 5 years ago

Hello,
We had to revert this.
3 areas are the building structure, not the pitch inside it. They should keep their building tags and sports_hall tag.
The 4th area the badminton pitch you changed into paddle_tennis → we kept your change.

86261844 over 5 years ago

Hello,
Those roads are tagged with highway=trunk.
By default, they have all access restrictions for foot, bicycle and horse as "no".
There is no need spending time filling this information manually. It adds no information to the database because those are the default access values.

You have a very good point. This calls for a more general discussion. I send you a direct message with some guidance.
