Changeset When Comment
167910462 6 months ago

Dear user Minie-Mini.

This message is to kindly remind you to please type real changeset comments upon changing data in the OpenStreetMap database.

In recent days, you have committed several changesets with just "...." is the title, to evade the warning in the editor when it requested that you added a description. Just typing the name of the place (e.g. Louvigné de Bais, Chateaubourg, Vitré…) is equally unhelpful.

OSM is built on verifiability and trust.
Please read the guidelines here on the wiki.

Thanks in advance.

Bonjour, et bienvenue sur OSM

"source=google map;google street view" ??

Attention !

Honestly, it makes no real difference, because when it reopens we can very easily retag the node, which is still there.

But if that is important to you, here is what I’ll do here: restore it so that it shows again as a restaurant on the map, but setting its opening hours to "off".

Most good apps like OsmAnd correctly manage this. Some apps ignore them and will show La Grande Terrasse just like any restaurant here and will send people there.

Hello, Rowemu,

I understand that adding this tag was inspired after the following thread on the forum.
https://community.openstreetmap.org/t/how-to-tag-free-admission-fur-icom-member/131475

The "Any tags you like" policy also mandates that people should make the extra effort to create a proper documentation about new tags they are introducing.

I see on Taginfo that you are currently the sole user of this tag.
https://taginfo.openstreetmap.org/keys/fee:icom_member#overview

Could I invite you to write a description for this tag on the OSM Wiki. One important aspect here is that the list of museums for which the ICOM membership cards grants free access, should be publicly available, so that other mappers can also add or remove places in the future. I tried to inspect https://icom.museum/en/network/membership-card/ but the list of eligible museums does not seem easy to find.

Would you please do this?

Hello,

Is this amenity really outside the building? It looks like it should have been located inside, right?

This looks like a mistake but I prefer asking, in case this was really meant like that.

167640667 6 months ago

Thanks for the reply.

I see that other mappers have already volunteered to restore some connectors.

Here is a suggestion. Since you know the current situation much better, perhaps you can open a note here and put a web link to documents that show how it looks like. (As long as it is legal to post them, I suppose that documents like planning permits are public.) Many experienced mappers look for open notes and can help redrawing the area.

Hello, and welcome to OSM.

It looks like you are trying to make fairly complicated changes to infrastructure, but I see that you are using the simple online editor on osm.org (which is called iD), which is definitely not suited for such actions. The summary of this changeset shows warnings in at least 4 different categories, and virtually every bus route going to the airport has been broken when you erased some roads and did not rebuild proper chaining for buses.

I am afraid this will call for significant repairs in OSM data. I will try to see what we can do.

Can I suggest you to learn a little more how to edit OSM by doing smaller, less significant, changes for your first contributions.

Have a nice day.

Hello, and welcome to OSM.

Proxy Delhaize Ma Campagne is already on the map.
node/282464794

I wish to raise your attention that "Organic Maps" is not recommended for OSM editing. The main reason is because the data you see in that app often lags behind (weeks, possibly months). We often have to remove duplicate objects added by users who believe that shops are missing.

Have a nice day.

167604780 6 months ago

Duplicate of node/1412859317

Again, it looks like you rely on information in "Organic Maps" (which is outdated) instead of checking existing data in OSM.

Hello,

I am sure you mean well and genuinely want to help other mappers by solving open notes, but please be careful when assigning addresses.

Here is an example:
way/865710470/history

If a buiding has multiple addresses, the best way is to create multiple nodes, one per address.

Alternatively, if they are all on the same street, using all the numbers on the same object… but with the semicolon (;) separator. Not commas, which can be interpreted as being part of the same house number.

Hope this helps.

Hello, and welcome to OSM.

Minor geometry fixes, or more details like crossings or give-way signs are okay.

⚠️ BUT changing the road classification without discussing it with the local community is a major problem. This should only be changed after careful review, and understanding of the consequences in the routing grid. When a new account pops in and starts making giant changesets like that, it is usually welcomed with a bit of suspicion.

Did you talk with someone prior to engaging with major changes like here? Where was it discussed or requested?

One more thing: a "living street" is something very specific; those streets always carry a F12a sign when entering, which has legal implications, like no parking outside parking markings, and 20 km/h maximum speed: way/150644414/history

Please reply below this message (can be in FR or NL if that is easier for you).

Thanks in advance.

Hello,
Please do not change buildings, mixing information of different objects is not a correct way to map information on OSM.
Don’t worry, we fixed your edit.

167480101 6 months ago

Hello,

This relation is a route for pedestrians. If you route it across cycleways, make sure to modify the permissions on those cycleways accordingly, e.g. by adding foot=* and segregated=* tags. In the current situation, the route issues warnings because it uses ways where walking is not permitted.

Hello, and welcome to OSM.

Nice to add new buildings.
In the future, please make sure to select the correct background, "Digitaal Vlaanderen GRB", which shows the correct outline of buildings, before tracing them. Do not rely on aerial pictures for that.

I fixed the two buildings here.

167431839 7 months ago

Hello, and welcome to OSM.

It looks like you have inadvertently been tracing buildings on aerial imagery.

Those images are not suitable for buildings, they will show a distorted view. Can you please redo your edit and trace on the appropriate base layer,

I see you are using the online iD editor. When you are editing, on the right side of your screen, there is a "Background" button, where you can scroll down to "Digitaal Vlaanderen GRB". Please make sure to only use that one when touching building shapes.

natural=water on an islet, seriously?

It looks like you treat OSM like a game. Please stop!

Hello,

What kind of "electric thing" did you spot here?

You changed a bench into a power generator. This kind of tag is for solar panels or wind turbines. I don’t believe there is such thing here.

At the very least a small street cabinet but I cannot find any on the available pictures.

Please clarify whether this was an intended edit or a mistake. I can understand that mistakes do happen in the first days.

Hello, and welcome to OSM.

You created a node with "tourism=artwork".

OK, nice to see that there is some art here. Sadly, you provided no more details.

Could you please add more items to the object you have created: is it a sculpture, a mural, a statue… or possibly point us to a picture or document about it, so that we’ll add it ourselves.

Thanks.
