Changeset When Comment

Hello,

Thanks for this.

The syntax for phone numbers in OSM is to use generic international prefixes, therefore we always write "+32" instead of "0032".

I see you use Every Door, this is a nice app. A recommended customisation is to go to the Settings of the app and tick the "Prefer contact prefix" option. This is the preferred way of writing phone numbers and websites in Brussels and most of Belgium nowadays.

I fixed this one.

Have a nice day.

Hello,

I see you requested a review.

We understand that new mappers sometimes make mistakes and we will try to help you.

I wanted to start with a few pieces of advice.

1) Make sure to check your edits correctly before uploading. For an unknown reason, you changed "Cig2Vap Louise" into a… campsite. You probably clicked on one of the presets. Beware of this: when you upload something it goes straight to the database and it might have taken months before someone else would have noticed.

2) Please abstain from copying promotional texts from corporate websites into OSM. For Cig2Vap Danco/Globe you inserted a description containing weasel words such as "votre spécialiste en vapotage", "Large choix", "dans un environnement convivial" into the description key. Firms may brag as much as they want on their own websites, but OSM is not the place for that.

3) Please write better changeset descriptions. "Mise à jour de la fiche merci " La fiche, quelle fiche ?
What we want to see here is a few words, for instance saying that you updated data for a few shops after checking them yourself.

Have a nice day.

OK, thanks for the reply. I’ll revert some of the roads, and kept the good parts, including the street that is open to traffic again, as you told me. A fellow mapper who works nearby will survey it again this week, so that we’ll be sure to have correct information on the map.
Thanks again, I hope you had a nice stay in Brussels.

Hello,

You removed a fixme tag without solving the underlying problem. The previous user had drawn the building according to aerial imagery, knowing that this is wrong and temporary, until we could get an updated data source. I could apply the fix, i.e. latest numerical imagery now provides the correct shape for this building.

Next time, if you cannot solve the quest, just ignore the problem and do not change the tags; in the case there was really something to do.

Have a nice day.

This changeset is a consequence of the following note:
note/3867076

My understanding is that the didn’t *move* the spring, but rather that it was never there in the first place.

If you have concerns, please reopen the note and discuss it with the mapper who gave that information.

Hello,

There had been recent changes in traffic here and many streets were reversed in August.

I saw you put them back to their former situation.
way/787581444/history

Did you really survey this place? I am surprised the municipality would have undone their traffic plan so quickly. Or is it just armchair mapping on old imagery?

Please share thoughts about what happened here.

Don’t worry, I fixed it.

Bonjour,

Merci.

I agree with you. We have a few other cases of schools that have a satellite location, and sometimes not the same tags, despite they "brand" themselves as a single entity.

This school has been annoying me for quite a time, it raised validation problems.
way/812409385/history

Can you recommend a way to fix this problem, or link to other OSM objects where this problem was solved elegantly?

This edit looks fairly suspicious.

The "attraction" in the middle of a forest and the "restaurant" on a parking lane in Brugge are clearly wrong. Not sure about the camping site inside a Gentse park, it can probably be reverted too.

142216766 about 2 years ago

Hello,

Oh, not that again!
Read the definition of kick-scooter, please.

Do not use this tag for the small painted zones aimed at parking e-scooters.

Hello,

The changes look fine. But next time, please make sure to upload your changes *before* boarding on your flight.

It looks like you surveyed shops at Brussels Airport and did not upload them immediately. The changes were stored in the memory of your phone. I guess you uploaded them upon arriving in Bromma. You may be interested to know that when you upload data, StreetComplete creates a new changeset and leaves it open for an hour. Since you also edited places in Sweden on the same topic (shops), those were put into the same changeset… And this is why we see a giant bounding box covering a fairly large territory across Europe.

Hello,

Whereas your former edit had been reverted by @Thierry1030 tonight, you changed the names of cycle relations again. Please consider the remarks that were sent to you in former changeset comments and the discussion on the OSM-BE Matrix channels.

The tagging scheme you have just invented here does not look correct, because now both languages are mixed and all name:* tags are identical. This is not how it works.

Please be considerate of other users, and stop this edit war immediately

142158127 about 2 years ago

Hello, Bruno1460,

Again, please stop adding made-up names for cycle relations in Brussels.

"1 Centre - Bordet/Cimetière de Schaerbeek" is just your way of describing it, this is not the official name of the cycle relation. If your intention is to create a database or an app that feeds on OSM data, please put this into the description tag or whatever, but do not arbitrarily change the name tag of objects. Additionally, you are also doing a form of language vandalism because, in most of the edits about cycle routes, you are removing most words in the Dutch language, despite Brussels is a bilingual territory.

Several uers have tried to reach out with you over the past few days to ask you to stop those edits.

A user made pictures during a survey, these pictures are very recent.

The usual rule is that if a footway can be seen and used, then it "exists" for OSM.

We would bar access (with access=private) only if there are signs or documents that explicitely forbid people to use it. And we are aware that this might be a tricky decision. There is a wiki page that explains it: if you delete it completely, sooner or later someone will add it again. If the owner of this fields intends to prevent people from using it, then it’s better to have a sign or something, otherwise we’ll always end up in the gray zone.
osm.wiki/Why_we_won%27t_delete_roads_on_private_property

Here are the tags we used on this path:
highway=path
surface=ground
trail_visibility=bad
wheelchair=no

These seem to correctly reflect the situation and warn users that they should not expect a well-polished path but something a bit rough.

Is there anything we had been missing?

142052692 about 2 years ago

Hello,

Names and tags of ICR/GFR cycle relations should not be changed without prior discussion, as several third-party services depend on them. For a first, Brussels is a bilingual Region and names must honour this rule.
The change into ncn seem very dubious too.

Other mappers are trying to contact you. For a first, please pause any further change of the Brussels bicycle network. We opened a topic on the OpenStreetMap BE Matrix channel, this might be the best place to discuss tagging standards.

Thanks in advance.

J'ai changé votre édition en ceci :

description=Chestnuts
description:fr=Châtaigner

Trees do not have *names*.

142014218 about 2 years ago

Well done! A possible improvement is to mechanically change the "comment" tag into "wheelchair:description".

Hello,

Why did you add a bakery in the middle of the sea?

Please be aware that what you do inside your app gets pushed to the main OSM databases. Bad contributions like this will make your other contributions look suspicious.

I will revert this one.
