I saw from another edit of yours that you seem to use those tags for bicycle lockers, i.e. the typical dark-green box for bicycles in residential areas. Isn’t it one of them here? Could you please clarify?

(You might be interested to type better changeset descriptions instead of the generic one offered by the app, because you have just spammed the changeset list today with about 20 identical titles.)

Reminder for OSM:
* Just adding the name on a building makes little sense, it only tells the database "this building is named contrast". If that is the name of a company, you have to add proper tags saying it is a company (and what kind of company).
* Tag the building itself *only* if the company uses the entire building. This seems quite a large building, maybe there are different businesses on other floors. Anyway, in any case, a single floating node inside the building is usually the best option
* No nonsense: it is not necessary to add postcode and city names in Belgium, they are automatically computed everywhere, on the contrary you can provide useful stuff, in particular their website.

Please read this advice, to make your future contributions better.

Despite it is common to say "cobblestones" in normal language, the OSM database makes a clear distinction between ordinary stones and small blocks used to build roads.

"surface=cobblestone" is exclusively for raw stones laid on the ground, still found on ancient Roman roads, i.e. osm.wiki/File:Ancient_road_surface.jpg

"surface=sett" is for those typical stones carved as small cubes: osm.wiki/File:Granite_Setts.jpg

Real cobblestones are hardly found at all in Western countries. The "kasseien" everybody hates are coded as "surface=sett" in OSM.

Would you please review your change and make sure that if you use "surface=cobblestone" only if you found one rare occurrence with raw stones.

Maybe some hints to make your future contributions better.

1) Make sure to write self-explaining changeset comments when uploading. An incomplete description or a cryptic text such as "small amendment to features" always sounds a bit suspicious.

2) Almost all addresses in Belgium are already on the map, sometimes on building outlines or as address nodes inside buildings or on doors. It is not necessary to repeat those addresses on every shop. I erased the duplicate address here.
(I don’t blame you, it’s because the online iD editor is a very basic piece of software and always shows a long list of fields, so people believe they *have to* fill everything.)

We keep getting validation warnings with UrbIS data because of some pools you added.

Why do you add an UrbIS reference number to swimming pools? AFAIK they don’t have any. Moreover, those id numbers are expected to be unique, whereas it looks like you are putting the same refs on distant objects, e.g.

In a nutshell: in OSM you can see the list of objects touched by a changeset below this comment, i.e. 1 way and 5 nodes were touched here. In a nutshell, this is a change aimed at fixing your latest edit, more precisely where the EU school and the university campus meet. They are contiguous area; I noticed you moved some points—and I think it was a good decision to rectify the "border" between them because it looked a bit weird before—and when you deleted some of those points you created gaps and/or overlaps between the two areas. This change is here to fix this. It was a minor geometry fix here. ;-)

OK, that’s many points to discuss. First, I don’t blame you for the mistakes, everyone does mistakes especially on the first days, I am only here to make sure the map can stay a reliable source of information, because lots of people are relying on OSM to provide good data. And indeed, some university campuses may have changed and we are always happy to have more eyeballs to spot new changes there.

About the discussion points here:

1) As I mentioned, building shapes are obtained by numerical imagery, those are special drawing layers provided by public authorities with the correct outline of every building. A fellow mapper routinely imports new buildings, so that you don’t have to do it. If you use the online editor it is possible to see this layer (UrbisAdm) but I would not recommend tracing on it directly in the online editor, it would take too much time.

2) Postcodes and city names are automatically obtained from existing areas. For instance, if you type "1050, belgium" in the search box on the main osm.org website you will obtain the area where every point automatically gets this postcode.
The confusion is maybe because what you believe is "the system" is only the "iD editor", i.e. the Javascript program running behind the Edit button on the main osm.org website. This is a a simple editor for simple tasks, and usually what people will use in their first months of editing. This is a very basic piece of software, it is much less powerful than what the OSM ecosystem can do. And indeed, iD cannot handle postcode zones used in most European countries and still provides countless empty text boxes.
So this is just to avoid you wasting time filling information that will not help anyone.

3) Here is an example.

In version #1 the address is correctly written in both languages, in version #2 by you, the French part is erased to only keep the Dutch name.
Another example is the ULB campus here: you are the editor for version #7, where deliberately erased a valid wikipedia link to "nl:Campus de la Plaine" and made it into "nl:Pleinlaancampus" despite there is no valid wikipedia page with that name.

4) I will agree that you had to intention to touch the VUB campus but as long as the OSM database is concerned, you touched it anyway.
relation/13366042/history (you are version #6). It seems that you used the scissors function to split an area into two parts, transforming the main campus part into two U-shaped lines instead of one single area. Don’t worry, I fixed it. I suppose it was just an accident when using the editor.

Welcome to OSM.

While we appreciate some details about building names or number of floors, your edit unfortunately contains several mistakes and it will take a lot of time to fix now. It might be useful to read the documentation and observe mapping practices before attempting to edit the map and potentially destroy things.

1) Building shapes are imported from numerical imagery. Please *never* redraw a building by following aerial imagery. Such imagery is not accurate and will never show the correct shape of buildings. If you do that, you damage the shape of a building.

2) Addresses are already on the map. Please do not add fancy details such as postcodes. If we do not repeat "1050 Ixelles - Elsene" on every building, it is not because we forgot to do that but merely because it’s not needed, given that we already have areas that say "all the points within this perimeter are in 1050, Ixelles/Elsene, Belgium…

3) In a bilingual territory, never remove a bilingual name to make it a monolingual name just because you prefer to see one language. This is considered as vandalism. Some people have been agressively doing that in the past and got banned from editing again. No politics on OSM please.

4) Beware that what you change on the map may have very bad consequences. You almost erased the VUB campus by mistake, while splitting a way. I’ve just restored it. Perhaps doing smaller edits for your first contributions will be better than attempting to deal with larger structures.

Adding bilingual names on streets in places with language facilities is generally okay—especially when the street signs show the two languages—make sure to update the addresses on buildings accordingly. (Example here: way/864610407) Otherwise, this creates a whole bunch of nasty validation issues. ;-)

Pardon my curiosity but this changeset does not seem to be related to landuse—all your latest changes are disguised under an innocuous "landuse update" title.

Is service=parking_aisle appropriate for an ordinary service road? This road is not inside a parking area at all, I suspect this is a private road used for deliveries and police vans.

Any thoughts?

@Desriveaux: your changeset was undone because of lack of verifiability (not to mention incorrect capitalisation and more), and out of protection for the map after finding out that many changesets contained implausible names (sentier des Gembloutois bienheureux, sentier de Marie-Martine, sentier des coquefredouilles, chemin d'Olivier le Sardanapale, piste des fesse-mathieux, chemin des gourgandines…).
Either you invented them yourself and pretend they come from "old locals" that only you know, or, should those name really exist locally, they are not documented nor posted anywhere. Those paths have been on the map for several years, it is very unlikely no-one would have missed the name.

If you want to make positive contributions to improve the map, some additional comments and guideline have been provided under your other changeset there.
