Changeset When Comment

Hello,

Just a warning here: moving or reshaping buildings in the online editor, and using aerial imagery, is a very bad idea. We have specialised numerical imagery offered by Brussels UrbIS to trace building outlines in Brussels.

Your change has been undone.

OK, fine.

Hello,

If you allow me to make a few comments here, there is just something to know here.

1) Merging POI with addresses is only possible if *and only if* the whole address with that number is the POI.
So, if number 3 is only that events_venue, merging them is fine.
(For instance, we sometimes have situations with a shop on the lower floor and apartments above, each with the same number, and for situations like this one, the POI must be distinct.)

2) The police station’s address is number 3, right?
https://www.politie.be/5340/nl/contact/commissariaten/commissariaat-marie-jose-sint-jans-molenbeek

3) I couldn’t find where the name of the venue comes from.
If I look on the CPAS/OCMW’s website, the name should be "Centre de Rencontre Marie-José - Ontmoetingscentrum Marie-José" instead.
https://www.cpas-molenbeek.be/nl/de-derde-leeftijd/het-ontmoetingscentrum-marie-jose?set_language=nl
You can name it differently, for instance if you have been there and that the name was different (ground truth always wins).

Hello,

Something good to know:

When a POI is located inside a building with only one address, you do not need to repeat the address on the POI itself. The search function will work normally and the POI will "inherit" the address tags.

Also, in Belgium, only the street name and housenumbers are needed, the rest is automatically computed from existing postcode zones. (The online editor does not know about how each country is mapped and offers several text boxes, that is why we often see people filling every box they are shown.) So you can save some time.

Hello,

We suppose this is an official account of BM we are talking to.

Great you are updating OSM.
Sadly, we had to undo the change here. The name change was planned to be activated on Saturday (D–2) to get a proper map update. It’s a bit too early to do it middle of the week before. Also, there are more tags than just the name (we link to etymologies, we had set a proposed:name tag, relations containing the object) and everything should be updated at the same time.

(All over the past months, we had to undo such changes multiple times because we saw dozens of new users enthusiastically changing the name of the tunnel upon reading the news somewhere.)

Don’t worry, it’s very well taken care of. ;-)

Have a nice day.

Hello,

No, it is not.

tunnel=yes is to be used only if the road above is on the normal level (0).
All the roads and paths on the bridge have proper bridge=yes + layer=1 tags, therefore you should not tag the others with tunnel=yes. One or the other.

Thanks but try not to break other modes of transport when you rearrange streets. :-/ OpenStreetMap is not a map solely for cycling.

Hello,

I had looked at your changeset and found it quite good indeed, because you:
1) added the address to the ground structure (way/442046313)
2) removed the address from the monument itself

For me, that would be the best choice: buildings have addresses, monuments do not. And giving the same address to multiple objects is not always a good choice.

So, if you ask me, I think the current situation is the best choice. But no problem to put it back if you feel it’s useful.

Happy mapping!

That being said, it looks like some info you added a few months ago is gone and should be restored.

This is the building named "L'Ange - Het Faillen Hoofd" which was here: way/306856723/history
https://monument.heritage.brussels/nl/Brussel_Vijfhoek/Grasmarkt/8/31374

Which is now this building

Perhaps you might want to have a second look.

Hope this helps.

Hello,

A suggestion here: You might be interested to write more meaningful titles for your changesets in the future, really explaining what is going on.

"Added the name of a building". Fine: I see you touched 5 buildings in this changeset and none got a name. The only meaningful change I see here is adding start_date and wikidata entry for a cafe.

In the same changeset, you updated the geometry of some buildings. No problem with that but you didn’t say it.

You deleted the shop that sells car spare parts (inside the gallery, node/5154841338/history): again, no problem with that—if the shop is really gone—but you didn’t say a word about reviewing businesses here and removing some of them.

This is only an example but several of your latest edits have similar issues. This is making the life of other mappers unnecessarily harder, because your changeset titles cannot be trusted anymore. We already had to deal with people who were hiding malicious edits under innocuous-sounding titles. I’m sure you are not like them; no reason to act like them, then.

Have a nice day.

Veel fouten komen van changeset/94726641
Het zou nu in orde zijn, bedankt.

Hello,

man_made=bridge structures are geometrical areas showing the outline of bridges.
They are not aimed at being tagged with highway=pedestrian.
Fixed.

Hello,

We have a validation issue with this changeset here: you added nbr 181 for the mosque but the POI is located inside building with housenumber 183.

Shall we move the POI of the mosque to the house next to it?

105527964 over 3 years ago

Hallo,
Ja, het is blijkbaar enkele meters naar het noorden verplaatst. Zie de aanpassing hier: changeset/120767954

Hello,

Thanks for this.

I did some minor changes to the address (it must match the real name of the street, not a shortened version) + convention about how we write multilingual names in Brussels.
I understand it is complicated to achieve this on a mobile app. 😉

Hello Arflha,

We are trying to see why TEC routes use this unusual group of suffixes [1] and [2] to distinguish between direction of the route. This is not necessary for OSM.

We never do that elsewhere and as far as I know, TEC does not communicate about those numbers.

Can you help us? Maybe you know where this comes from or who told you to do this.

Thanks in advance.

Hello, Antoine,

Updating public transport in Wallonia is a good idea and I am sure you are knowledgeable about where bus routes go.

You might be interested to know that the wiki includes a list of bus routes in Belgium, with the corresponding ID number of the route relations.

osm.wiki/WikiProject_Belgium/Public_Transport#Brabant_wallon

You might want to have a look because most links are broken now and the list would require some update to include the route relations you created when erasing the existing ones.

Looking forward to your reply.
Thanks.

Hello,

For buildings in Flanders, you’d better use numerical imagery (scroll down to AIV Flanders GRB in the list of backgrounds) instead of aerial imagery.

GRB shows the correct location of building outlines.

Hope this helps.

Hello,

Something about the name. I bet people should write "École", not "Ecole".

I found this website. Isn’t the name Equiacademy instead? Looks like the same place.

Hello,

Thanks for your first contributions, I see you wanted a review.
