Hello,
Interesting changeset here.
Do you know a reliable source to determine how far this street name applies? I couldn’t find any sign upon surveying the park.

By the way, thanks for the Mapillary footage, I use your pictures often, and I am happy to see that recent pictures are immediately visible now.

Quite so, yes.

Hello,
Here is the magic trick. (Those instructions are for the iD editor, which I see you are using.)

1) Identify the point where the road changes. If there is no existing point, double click on the street to create one.
2) Right-click this point and select the scissors in the menu.
3) The street has now become two separate streets. They get the same attributes
4) Click on the first one and fill the information (e.g. asphalt), then click on the second one and fill the information (e.g. ground, or grass, or whatever is appropriate).

Hello,
I had been following the works here the last weeks and I abstained from touching OSM as long as the roadsigns aren’t there, because the "tracks" are legally not cycle tracks for the moment, just coloured parts of the sidewalk. I was there tonight: still no signs.
Anyway, I suppose it’s only a matter of days. We’ll keep your change.

Yes, it has obviously not survived the lockdown and has shut down. I had spotted this several times but failed to update the map. I’ve just done it now.
(disused:amenity=restaurant looks fine, indeed)

OK, good, then.

Hello,

Thanks for this.

There is something a bit strange about the small building here, which is part of your changeset: way/243540436/history

amenity=event_venue
+ the name suggests it is a warehouse to store dangerous goods.

Is that the real name of the place where they hold events? I fear we may be mixing two different kinds of things here, but maybe you have some information about what it really is nowadays.

What do you think?

Hello,

Just one more thing here: the tunnel=* tag is not useful on a tunnel structure itself, this makes no sense. tunnel=culvert is used for small underground rivers or pipelines. A tunnel in OSM is just a rectangle with man_made=tunnel.

You may want to know that this "tunnel" has been discussed several times in the past, because despite the funny name it is not really a tunnel but merely a road covered by a wide railway viaduct.

I did some fixes, also to restore the tram route relations that were broken when you used the split button.

Have a nice day.

Hello,
We already have proper wikidata tags on the master relations.
Why do you want to duplicate this information on individual route relations within it? Does it serve a particular purpose? I am curious to know if there are some apps or queries that require this instead of fetching it straight from master relations? Maybe we can see how to improve this.
Thanks in advance.

Hello,

Sorry but we had to revert this changeset. It was really damaging for cycle routing.

I suppose you want to convey something like "cyclists should be advised to use the available cycle track".
The problem is that "bicycle=use_sidepath" merely tells the routing algorithm "never use this road". This creates gaps in the cycle network when all possible combinations with cycle tracks are missing.

I believe we can restore the tags only once we have finished mapping all the cycle tracks here, on both sides. I’ll try to do that in the next days.
If I recollect correctly, the westmost track is southbound and the eastmost track can legally be used in both directions, is that correct?

Have a nice day.

Hello,

Thanks for adding more stuff here.

I updated the operator name into "Bruxelles Environnement - Leefmilieu Brussel": IBGE/BIM is the old name and is deprecated; we prefer to have the same name everywhere: it makes it easier to write queries to collect all their sites at once. ;-)

Hello,

Thanks for the info about Dienst Vreemdelingenzaken. I changed it into a single node because they operate just a department there, they do not own or operate the whole Pacheco tower.

More importantly: it turns out you redrew the building… and you drew the roof outline instead, which is incorrect. We already have excellent vector sources for outlines of buildings in Belgium (UrbIS numerical) and Flanders (GRB) and they are already on the map. Please **never** use aerial imagery to draw buildings or you will put garbage to the map.

Happy mapping.

Don’t worry, it was not your fault, and it was not easy to know.
Happy mapping.

Hello,
way/75237937: Recidentie or Residentie?

109266534 over 4 years ago

Hello,
I want to inform you there are some issues with this edit, caused by automatic fixes suggested by iD.
We have opened a few tickets to warn iD developers of bad auto fixes (for instance, it links to French-speaking Wikipedia for De Lijn instead of Dutch).
I recommend to be particularly cautious when using the online editor: it is suitable for small stuff like adding a POI or a short way, but very bad for advanced stuff; its developers want to add more and more stuff and it’s getting increasingly controversial, causing many users to inadvertently adding garbage to OSM data if they blindly follow suggestions.
Have a nice day.

Hello,
Sorry but I had to revert this.
I visit this area regularly and the service road you created does not exist. It is a large construction site for the moment, with a few temporary tracks for construction trucks only.

Good point, thanks.

Thanks for spotting this. I also fixed the name on other parts of the road and on houses all at once.
