Changeset When Comment

Hello,

I reviewed your latest edits.
I am afraid to inform you that we have a real problem with this MapRoulette task. We already informed the author of this task that it triggers a very large number of false-positives.

I also inform you that in the city of Brussels, Belgium, we have a full inventory of all building outlines. With other local mappers we have put a lot of care in drawing building shapes correctly, by combining government data and our own surveys. Yes, some buildings do have spikes. Yes, it is normal. And sadly, MapRoulette users are not fixing anything. On the contrary, they are destroying years of patient work we put here. This is also why we do not use aerial imagery to map buildings, and definitely not in the iD editor.

I appreciate the intentions you have to fix the map. Maybe there are other places in the world where mappers’ time is wanted, but please consider pausing your edits in our city because of this problem. I’ll care to revert the faulty edits.

Have a nice day.

You are welcome.

Next time, please make sure to comment on the existing changeset here: changeset/152496180 to keep all discussions in the same place.

According to UrbisAdm, this large building is made of 3 parts, each with a different ref:UrbIS tag. I will care to fix this.
Also, please observe that buildings should *never* be traced on aerial imagery; those images present a distorted view of reality; always use the appropriate numerical imagery if you want to trace this.
I will try to fix this too.

Hello and welcome to OSM.
Please be extremely careful when dealing with addresses, it looks like you are creating duplicate values of the same addresses. Also, if you use the simple online editor, please do not fill the fields with postcodes and city names, we do not fill those values in Belgium (they are already calculated through existing zones).

Hello,
Shouldn’t this tag preferably be added to the "man_made=bridge" object rather than the relation? I fear no-one parses this tag along a bridge relation.
What do you think?

Hello,

Please be aware that edits you made are public. If you change something and merely write "Edit Information" to describe your changes, it looks to everyone as if you are trying to obfuscate what you are doing on the map.

This change is somehow puzzling, though.
"toilets:access=yes" means that toilets within this facility are open to *everyone* (i.e. not only customers). It should be combined with "toilets=yes" and not replace it.

Would you please confirm that it is what you meant here (i.e. open to everyone; some apps apparently look for those tags and will instruct passers-by to go there)? I can arrange to fix the data according to your answer.

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

Where does the "Tram Brussel Expo - Breendonk" string come from as a name? You seem to be talking about the future tram line between Willebroek and Brussels.

Hello,

Thanks for adding the gallery but I am afraid you did not do it correctly.

Your edit transformed the whole building as if "Cloud Seven" was the name of the building and as if this apartment building itself was just an art gallery.

I had a look at Mapillary pictures; it looks like the building has 5 floors (ground floor + 4 upper floors), I don’t understand why the building was tagged as having only 3 floors (building:levels=3).

I removed that too.

Maybe you meant that Cloud Seven art gallery is located at one of their floor. If you have that information, we can tag this as "level" on the POI of the gallery.

Why do you need that, precisely?

No problem, you are welcome.

Hello,

On this picture taken last May we see a large sign stating that this is a private road.

Has the situation changed recently?

I don’t blame you for the bad changeset, you know. It has already been fixed and the courtyard you are referring to is now correctly mapped.
I understand it is a difficult case for you because this is one (rare) occurrence where we must strive to keep OSM data in sync with official UrbIS data for building outlines despite it looks like the real building is shorter; that explains why it requires some complicated piling up of building and building:part objects.

Hello,

If Evergreen is the name of the residence, then the name must be added to the building and not by removing valid tags on an existing node for one business operating here.

I restored proper tags, here is the building: way/75237927

Have a nice day.

Please do not add non-existing building structures to the map. OSM is a map of the real world: those 10 buildings on top of existing buildings do not exist.

Hello,

Could you please review this road again.

name:fr must be a translation of the text stored as name.

In the current version of the object it looks like this:

name=Quartier Saint-Nicolas
name:fr=Rue de l'Église
name:lb=Um Fockeknapp

Perhaps change the main name tag accordingly to match its translation, or change name:fr into Quartier Saint-Nicolas. On or the other, I don’t have the local knowledge to know, but the data inconsistency must be solved anyway.

Thanks.

FYI, node/11583735334 is not in the middle of the road, like you think: if your only source is aerial imagery you will be mistaken because the bridge there hides the road underneath, where this address belongs. I removed the fixme tag because there is nothing to "fix" here. ;-)

Hello,
I wish there would be a nicer way to welcome you here but I must inform you that some of the edits you have been doing in the last hours are incorrect, and in most case even harmful for routing.
We had to redo some of your changes and even undo some of them.
Drawing sidewalks is not necessary in OSM. For those who want to do this, it requires some experience with routing, to avoid common pitfalls like here. Also, we discourage people from tracing in the iD online editor.
Can I please encourage you to spend a little more time learning about OSM or doing smaller contributions before engaging in sidewalk mapping in dense areas?
Thanks and have a nice day.

School already on the map as an area, please do not recreate duplicate tags on its main building, as it would create unwanted data corruption (one object, one feature rule on OSM)
