Changeset When Comment

Thanks for reaching out. Apologies for the harsh tone, I realize it was not fair, especially since most of the blame is actually directed at the iD editor (the Javascript editor behind the "Edit" button on osm.org), which encourages bad mapping practices.

I will reply to the other message you sent me and send some guidance about cases like this. I admit that this one is already a complicated case, it’s not easy to get it right.

Have a nice day.

Hello,

There is a long taxi station all over this street. Why did you erase it?

Check out pictures taken this morning, it is still there, of course.

Hello,
Do you still remember whether this charging station was on the left or right side of the road?
node/11585729482
I am asking because the node has been drawn in the middle of the road and I cannot determine in what direction to move it.
Thanks.

No problem, we are happy to help. As you can see, we have a complete Mapillary coverage of our region taken in 2022-2023 and that helps us a lot.
Your other contributions were fine and appreciated.

Hello,

Deliberately adding incorrect data in OSM for the sake of pleasing buggy renderers is disallowed.
way/1209725304

We must tag reality, not "tag for the renderer".
osm.wiki/Tagging_for_the_renderer

If there is a problem because one of the (many) third-party apps that generates 3D views of buildings, it should be reported to the devs of that software. Please undo your changes.

Reverted!

Hello,

It will be appreciated if you would please not title several of your changesets with vague wording like this.

"Correcting the map" is essentially what every mapper is doing all the time. Sadly, it carries no useful information about what you did to those 56 roads and why you changed them.

It is recommended that you write a proper description, explaining in a few words what this specific changeset is about. Something like "Updated the ref tag of CR 6 road because of <some reason why you feel it was wrong>", perhaps.

Have a nice day.

Hello,

Craves Hotel is already on the map

We had to revert your change.

Bonjour,

Have a nice day.

Hello,

We moved the node to its new location on Rue du Luxembourg/Luxemburgstraat. (And we removed the address on the object itself, addresses are exclusively written on address points and not repeated multiple times; moreover, addresses in Brussels must be written in the two official languages.)

Hello,

Thanks for this but there is some confusion about spelling rules.

Your description note uses "Batar" whereas you typed "batar" (all in lower case) for the name tag.

Could you please clarify which of the two spellings should be used here?

Hello,

Chances were very low that calling for help through a changeset title are noticed but you are lucky I spotted this in the list.

I think you are referring to messages used by the "iD" editor, as I see this is what you are using to edit the map (iD is a small online editor in Javascript available on osm.org.)

There was a mapping error here because if roads are on different levels we must tell the system that one goes above the other. This is used through the "layer" tag. Don’t bother, I was happy to fix it.

We’ll fix all the other mistakes too.
Have a nice day.

Your next changeset here fixed the problem for Drake Strait, so nothing more to be done.
changeset/146807357

Thanks and happy mapping.

Hello,

The reason for the previous message is because, apart from the shops in Berlin, you also retagged Drake Passage, south of Chile, and uploaded all the changes at once.

relation/9359806
You removed natural=strait and replaced it with area=yes.
I don’t think this change is a good idea. Was it discussed somewhere?

Hello, Tommy3009,

Here is a comment about your changes on OSM. I will comment on this changeset but I found the same problem several times.

Adding [1] and [2] to indicate the travel direction is not a good thing. Some users are patiently correcting mistakes from the past, bus please do not make the problem worse and don’t add new bad apples to the jar.

Especially not if your personal way to type names is "70 [2[ Nivelles - Rosseignies - Buzet".

The standard modern way is:
name="Bus 70: Nivelles → Buzet"
It is gradually being deployed all over the country, it’s nice if you can help too.

I hope you might find this useful.

You are right, I have probably too hazily assumed the entire building had been demolished, though only the part behind the other building is gone. I’ll change it.
