Changeset When Comment

Hello,

We fixed the tags for the Polish shop in Brussels.

The "beach" POI has been removed.

Lidl was already on the map.
node/10968991406

Next time, please update changes separately instead of one bulk upload spanning over different countries.

Hello,

Why did you apply the population of the Brussels Region to this node, which is only for the city? The city’s population is only 188,737.
(The Wikipedia article named "Brussels" is for the Region, not the city.)

We stopped using the "population" key several years ago because of this error that non-local mappers are doing repeatedly. You might have heard that most OSM objects are linked to a corresponding Wikidata entry, which contains useful metadata which people can re-use. This avoids duplicating that info in OSM.

Hello,

Thanks for raising the point. I’ve just found out that a beginner incorrectly changed the wikidata entry for this node and linked it to a larger urban area, which is incorrect.

There is a frequent confusion here for people who are not familiar with Belgium: one of the regions is named "Brussels-Capital Region" (pop. 1,2M) but despite what the name might suggest, that Region is *not* the capital of the country. Only the city of Brussels (pop. 188,000) is the legal capital of the country. (I know it is strange to have a small entity named Brussels inside of a larger one named Brussels but our country is full of surprises like this.)

Wikipedia says it correctly: "Brussels, officially the Brussels-Capital Region, is a region of Belgium comprising 19 municipalities, including the City of Brussels, which is the capital of Belgium."

I restored the wikidata tag, which will now correctly point to the correct entry.

Okay, this is a good point, thanks.

Yet, there is a technical problem we still have to solve here: the node has amenity=*, leisure=* and natural=* all together whereas only one is permitted at a time. If the element can be considered a picnic table, I suggest we remove amenity=bench and draw the tree separately.

144720485 about 2 years ago

Thanks for this.

Next time, make sure to write opening hours with the correct syntax, otherwise no app will be able to understand it properly.

Don’t worry, we fixed it.

144704516 about 2 years ago

Hello,

leisure=picnic_table is used by some hiking apps to guide people about where to find a suitable place to eat inside the park.

I don’t think we should encourage anyone from having a picnic here. What do you think?

Hello,

Did they really install a "swing gate" here?

On the latest pictures we took, it is just a static piece of wood, it does not move.

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

Thanks for cleaning some addresses.

Please make sure to not erase ref:UrbIS on buildings or addresses (way/224681160/history), they are the primary key to addresses in Brussels and should be kept on the database.

Thanks, and have a nice day.

144630131 about 2 years ago

I’ll fix it.

144630131 about 2 years ago

Hello,

You added indoor=yes to this clock but it looks like this is an outdoor clock on the front of the building, as this 360° picture shows.

What do you think?

Hello,

In this changeset, you added 13 nodes for addresses in Romania… and moved a solar panel in England by a few inches. The latter is probably a mistake, and that explains why your change is shown as a huge box covering half of the continent.

You might also be interested to write proper changeset comments as from now; typing random character strings such as: "tt", "ttt", "fhjgjh", "oo", "oikgm", "fdghbd", "ghgy", "fdgsdgtf", "ggg"… look very suspicious. I inspected some of those changes and most of them seem okay, so please describe what you did on the map, e.g. that you added opening hours for a business, that you added more addresses in your hometown, etc.

Happy mapping.

Hello,

On their website, "de Cuynder" is spelt with a lower "de".
https://decuynder.nl/

Why did you change it into "De"?

144547571 about 2 years ago

/Hello,

Even if the content of your change is fine (i.e. renaming "Wetterse steenweg" into "Wetterse Steenweg" to fix a capitalisation issue), your changeset title is unnecessarily offensive.
way/330587982/history

"Profanity" or "Vandalism" are very strong accusations towards other mappers. I advise you to think about the way you write your changeset titles. User @Jakka is one of the most active contributors in this country and is probably the one who helps the most to keep OSM data clean.

Please use those words for *real* cases of vandalism. Doing a minor capitalisation error can happen to anyone. It is good if you see it and fix it; next time just write "typo fix" or anything like that in the changeset title.

Have a nice day.

144582290 about 2 years ago

Hello,

Would you please be so kind and explain what kind of "profanity" you wanted to clean up here?

The changeset description of version #4 is very clear about the situation of this street. This is the border between two municipalities and the addresses on the left side and the right side of the road are not identical. (Also, this is the border between two regions of Belgium, which have different language rules, so this is really a complicated case, and we solve it while using name:left and name:right with a compound name for the main name.)
way/806451615/history

Your edit does not fix anything, on the contrary you are reintroducing the mistake we worked to solve earlier. We have a very active community of mappers in Belgium and we have built expertise to handle those difficult cases. I don’t know how the way you named your changeset relates to the situation.

Looking forward to your reply.
Have a nice day.

This relation is an exact duplicate of another relation created by… yourself two days ago: relation/16757285
I suggest you transfer all the tags to one relation and delete the other.

144525568 about 2 years ago

… But most importantly, thanks for having added useful information to the map. 👍️

144525568 about 2 years ago

Thanks for this.

I saw you requested a review.
We made some minor changes. In particular, the syntax for phone numbers had a serious flaw. Make sure to type +32 and not + 32 (no space after the plus sign).

Also, do not reuse address nodes, there are meant to store addresses and nothing else; if you want to add a shop or an amenity, simply create a new point next to them.

Happy mapping.

144449191 about 2 years ago

I don’t use that app but had a look at the web version and lots of OSM data are missing there, it does not seem to handle multipolygons correctly.

Also, please try to inspect how your app works and make sure to find the option where you can write a proper description when you push changes to the database. Closing changesets before editing in another part of the city is also appreciated, because seeing many giant changesets with "no comment" as a title is a real nuisance for those who are reviewing the map.

Have a nice day.

144449191 about 2 years ago

Hello,

I had to revert part of your "no comment edit" about the school, because it is already on the map.
node/11375701237/history

Please make sure your app uses the latest map data, we regularly have this problem about people adding "missing stuff" when they use an app with old data.

Please use the Dutch name as the primary name for amenities in Flanders.
