| Niel | Some links to users editing around Niel:
You could write them a mail in OSM. |

| Frustrated by rogue popups in JOSM | hmm.. which image layers? I used the bing aerial imagery layer - do you mean this? Had no problems with it. |
|
| Getting started... | Addresses: you will like those tools:
JOSM: try to select a small area only. Also download will fail (AFAIK) if the API has problems (see http://stats.pingdom.com/p310g2klasry/435275 ). |

| First edit | The three nodes
are no member of any way. You can see this on the pages I’ve linked to (way membership would be listed there). In Potlatch2 you can see it if you switch to wireframe map display and then select the way. Or you could drag the node a bit - the way should follow (undo the action with the undo button!). If the way is not also dragged then obviously the node is not inside the way. On the last node (also applies to the others): How to integrate into the way - not that easy in Potlatch. The shortcut key J does not seem to work with gate nodes. There are some workarounds (creating a temporary way), but that is too complicated. And anyway, the node where the gate is, is already existent in the way. It is the corner, right? So delete your gate node and tag the corner node as gate. Select the corner node and then select a tag (gate) on the left side in the editor. Okay, next problem: the western end of your new path osm.org/browse/way/214456076 is not connected to the pre-existing footpath. To be connected ways need to share a node. You see shared nodes in Potlatch as red dots with a circle around them after you select a way. Best just drag the last node of your way to the east and draw the way’s end again - when you hover over the footpath you will see the mouse pointer change to a + … this indicates that if you click there a node will be inserted into the way at this position. Other possibility: drag the end node of your way over a node in the existing way and press J. |

| First edit | Hi piotr’ek, welcome to OSM! If you have questions, don’t hesitate to ask anybody. :-) |

| Getting started... | Hi Olafur, welcome to OSM! :-) Thanks for your help - there is much to do. Links for the tools which were mentioned by dcp: Also easily found via the search box in the wiki. Potlatch is not that bad - in fact I am not quite sure if I would not recommend it to new users. At your neighborhood: I am wondering a bit that this quite well mapped area (e.g. even street relations) had no house numbers before. If you have questions, feel free to ask! |

| My 10 most useful OSM links | Thanks for sharing and your comments. I like such personal taste lists (such lists are not really possible in the (main) wiki or would require a voting process or something). You may like to have a look at my commented list about useful tools (quality review, errors, latest changes) (in German). Essentially it adds http://www.mapdust.com/ (error reports - mainly from car navigation app users) and RSS feed tools (to be informed about new possible errors and edits). |

| rails, only rails | Wow, what a look |

| hola a todos | ¡Hola, bienvenido a OSM! :-) |

| running | Welcome to OSM! :-) |

| JOSM plugins | Such lists are a thing which is not really possible in the wiki. Thank you - I will have a closer look at these plugins soon. The reverter plugin is really helpful - but one should know what one is doing! ;-) That is the only one which I have installed until now. |
