Hi there!

Just wanted to check how confident we are about access to the Showgrounds being restricted outside of paid events.

I suspect it’s not quite that strict, as there’s a free & unticketed “farmer’s market” hosted there most weekends:
https://adelaidefarmersmarket.com.au/visitor-info/getting-to-market/

I’m less sure what the rules are when there aren’t *any* events on (ticketed or otherwise). In practice the gates usually seem to be open, and it’s not uncommon to see people walking through, exercising their dogs on the arena, etc.

I’ve also not noticed any signage that indicates access is restricted, though it’s quite possible I’ve missed some.

Basically, I guess I’m wondering if “permissive” access would be more accurate here?

Thanks!

Whoops, I hadn’t realised that. Thanks for fixing!

I’ve gone ahead and made this change. Let me know if I’ve missed something though. Thanks!

I’ve gone ahead and switched it back - please let me know if I’ve misunderstood something though. Happy to continue the discussion! :)

Hi there, are we sure the Museum of Contemporary Art should be tagged as an art shop? While there is a small gift shop within it, I’m not sure it’s appropriate for the entire gallery. The gift shop could perhaps be added as a separate shop node?

Thanks!

Hi there, it looks like this changeset might have undone a recent name update for this building. The new name does indeed seem to be “Naala Nura”:
https://www.artgallery.nsw.gov.au/media-office/aboriginal-names-buildings/

There is a separate area in OpemStreetMap called “Art Gallery of New South Wales” that encompasses both buildings and represents the gallery as a whole:
way/1265404795/history#map=16/-33.8686/151.2175

Would you agree the name for this specific building should be changed back to what it was before?

Thanks!

Hi there, are you sure this is a sidewalk/pavement?

way/842923321/history#map=18/-33.87277/151.17301&layers=N

Unless I’m misunderstanding it, the “note” tag indicates that it’s not a sidewalk.

Cheers

👋 Hi there! It looks like this changeset might have removed “footway=sidewalk” from some footways that should actually have it.

This one for example:
way/1193788787/history#map=18/-33.88081/151.19044&layers=N

Wondering what the reason for removal was? Maybe I’m missing something.

Thanks! 🙂

Hi there, what is this attraction supposed to be? It’d be great if you could set “name” field when adding these, as otherwise it’s very unclear what they are :)

*empty field.

To elaborate: when they’re not operating, you can walk over them unimpeded (the surface is flat and dries out relatively quickly). When they are operating, you often see kids running around playing in them. Hence why “splash pad” feels like a better fit than “fountain” to me.

Hello, can I ask what the “Maint” attraction you added here is? It’s a bit unclear at the moment.

Hi there, I noticed you added a place of worship called “Beach full of plastic :(”. Is there really a place of worship at this location? If so, is this really its name? (Seems unlikely!)

Hi there! I’ve noticed that some of the “highway=ford” nodes in this changeset are actually bridges in reality.

I’ve corrected a few of them, but some of the remaining ones may still be wrong (I wasn’t able to survey all of them).

Thanks for catching that! I typed the raw tag value with my iPhone keyboard, so my fault rather than GoMap’s. I’ll be more careful with this sort of thing going forward 👍

Ah okay, sorry it was probably a different changeset then. Thanks for fixing it regardless! :)

I've made a small followup edit as well to make the ends of the platform more consistent with each other. Looks a little messy visually, but I think the connections+levels+layers are all correct 🤞

Hi there, thanks for mapping all this! I had a question about this flagpole though:
node/10607154509

I haven’t come across “not:flag:wikidata” before and aren’t sure what it means. Is it a typo, or is it literally supposed to mean “this isn’t a French flag”?

Thanks!

Hello, I’m not 100% sure but I think this changeset may have accidentally connected an underground footway with a surface-level sidewalk.

In particular, I’m pretty sure the eastern end of these escalators…
way/1072473008#map=19/-33.87469/151.22254

…should connect to the underground platform, rather than the sidewalk. In OSMCha it looks like this might have been mapped correctly before this changeset.
