Hi. Could you give me a multipolygons lesson? I know that I created a lot of these old-style ones, but I guess I'm ignorant about the issue. Thanks!

No, it isn't a detour and hasn't been for a good while. I must have overlooked those short segments around the interchange when I reverted the detour back to normal. I will take care of this right now. Thanks

Yes, that's my recent work. Did you take a closer look? If I did not do this correctly, please instruct me on the proper method. At each end of each untagged line is a node with address information (lowest and highest street address (addr:housenumber) for each building of town homes). I had seen this done elsewhere some time ago. If this is a wrong practice, please let me know how it should be done. Always learning!

I see it now. I didn't check it in an editor before so it wasn't visible.

It was originally created on 18th October 2011 by mapper 42429 and edited by me in 2015. I had intended to split it into two areas, each side of Iliff Avenue, but didn't finish. I have now finished it.

Good catch. I live in the general area and will certainly be working on that location again. I want to add names of subdivisions, etc., so will probably split those two areas further.

Did you delete this line? Because I didn't see it. It was most likely going to be landuse = residential, including name of development.

I have edited the area and left a comment on SaturatedPhat's changeset. Also found more new construction to add.

It appears this building=yes was meant to be leisure=park or leisure=common, however, it is redundant with a way/relation you already created that is leisure=park with name="AMC Park". I am not aware that a park has been designated on the campus called AMC Park.

24195592 almost 8 years ago

Wait - I think I see what you're talking about - way/293145527 - edited 3 days ago by SaturatedPhat, changeset/55338668 "Added park land". Obviously this is wrong. It should not be a building; it also should not be leisure=park. Also 3 days ago SaturatedPhat added a large polygon leisure=park called "AMC Park". As this is a university/medical center campus, it is not a park even though it has some "park-like" areas. Was there some other way you were referring to? Did you also comment on changeset by SaturatedPhat?

It would help if I knew what way(s) you are talking about. So much in this little area.

Yes it has re-opened, apparently around 10/31/2017. I thought I was subscribed to this area's MnDOT construction emails. I guess maybe not. I will fix it now.

Follow-up to my comment just posted a few minutes ago above:

I have also now discovered that another mapper, Silvertronica, has edited this motorway 4 days ago, extending the stretch labeled with ref = I 87 from Buffalo Creek (where sprjus4 had it end) to Little River, a few miles further NE of there. So maybe this is correct? I will message both of them now.

51867680 over 8 years ago

I had just heard about the change from I-495 to I-87 and wanted to make sure OSM showed the change. Mapper sprjus4 beat me to it by one day. However, there were a few segments that they missed, so I updated those to I-87 also and added oldref = I 495 to all segments, which they did not do. I did read about where it ended but did not change any of the segments ref's that sprjus4 had edited, thinking maybe they knew better (it wouldn't surprise me either way). Probably best to message this mapper and find out if they are local and can confirm one way or the other. I will do that.

Looks like you're right. And so I have learned yet another detail about something I assumed was correct for so long. Openstreetmap really needs to develop one or more online courses for new (and old!) mappers to help get more people "on the same page" regarding things like this. Also, the Wiki is also somewhat ambiguous. I think that OSM-US should adopt strict standards for bus stops and bus routes. Looks like instead of adding what bus routes stop at a bus stop we are supposed to add them to that route's Relation. I noticed that most (or maybe all?) bus stops in the Twin Cities were imported and I wonder about some of the tags, many of which are not mentioned in the OSM wiki. Should these be deleted. Some time ago I adopted the new practice of deleting non-OSM tags from TIGER-imported streets AFTER I edit them....so maybe the same should be done here? Or maybe person(s) who imported the bus stops should do it?

One thing I'm still not quite clear on: take a typical 3-lane 2-way street like we've been discussing, tag it like you said....but in the areas where it crosses another street (usually tertiary or higher and usually with traffic signals), that center lane becomes a left-turn lane in the direction approaching the intersection (not open to traffic going away from intersection). So how do you change the tagging for those short segments, assuming there's no median so it's still a 2-way street?

40050901 over 9 years ago

Thanks! You've been a great help. Do you live in Lincoln? I live in Denver, but I was born in Lincoln.

40050901 over 9 years ago

OK. Thanks for clarifying. I've seen some places (not many) where a busy street (say 2 lanes in each direction with a median) has multiple turn lanes at an intersection with another busy street and lanes=2 changes to lanes=5 with 2 left turn lanes and 1 right turn lane; I haven't chosen to incorporate this into my work (yet) and I'm not sure what the proper method is beyond "lanes=5"

40050901 over 9 years ago

Thanks for the info. I shouldn't have assumed a tag w/o checking the wiki. I did check it and I'm a bit confused about what is the correct method for a 2-lane street with a center left-turn "chicken" lane. You gave me two possibilities; is there a difference? I've also seen tags that look like x|y|z but don't know if this would be proper for this or not.

True, SomeoneElse. These are from my earliest days as an OSM mapper. I haven't done edits like this in a long time now. Today I just leave them as "generic" buildings.

By the way, I just tried to switch to view using MQO and it was blank (light grey). Cycle, Transport, and Humanitarian show up, but not MQO. Weird. I did check a number of times after I made the edits to make sure the PA highway shields for the Alternate PA 5 stayed the same, and they did.

29150977 over 10 years ago

Because it wasn't rendered using the standard OSM rendering; it only showed up with the MapQuest Open renderer.
