US Highway 169 Updates Tonight

Posted by Wylbur on 5 October 2009 in English.

Tonight I made a big update to US Highway 169 in Minnesota between Le Sueur and Shakopee. I created the two lane motorway with all connecting roadways.

In addition, I updated Highway 13 from US 169 to New Prague. There seemed to be a dual roadway entry on the map, so it took some time to remove one instance and link all connecting roads to the remaining highway.

Next time I go to Mankato, I will take 2 GPSr to get a good track to complete the US 169 motorway from Le Sueur to Mankato.

Rather than 2 GPS receivers, I'd advise trips at different times of the day to take advantage of the various arrangements of satellites as the day passes.

I haven't compared how 2 GPS (with different chipsets) and 1 GPS on two days compare, but in general, I have found that using two GPS works quite well. At least to know when the accuracy is good and when it is bad. I haven't so far had the case where the two traces lie on top of each other and they are off my more than perhaps 5 - 10 meters.

I'm not sure I agree with you about not using 2 GPS receivers. Since these are separate units, this provides a second data set for each trip.

In the future, I will take additional trips, and will take both units so I will have 4 data sets instead of 2.
