7 days ago | Thanks for catching that. I enjoy paddling and like the waterways to be accurate, for myself and the paddling community. There are a lot of water trails in Michigan that need map help. I have been reading and watching seminars on how to map them properly but have only reached the tip of the iceberg. A lot of it is above my head.
8 days ago | I went to the item you were mentioning and see what you mean now. I removed the oneway tag. If I remember correctly, that small portion of the Grand River had no direction of flow indicated or the incorrect direction of flow on the map.
8 days ago | Streams and rivers by default are tagged directional to the direction that you draw them. If they have flow they should have a direction. If you check out any river or stream line drawn on OSM you wilI find a direction of flow. I am still not sure of your question.
8 days ago | No story. I don't understand what you mean by story?
16 days ago | Sure, I can do that. If you find something that you believe to be mismapped, would you mind sharing it with me? Thank you.
2 months ago | Thank you for the heads up. I am done with the update that I wanted to make. Do you know what trails were created or had their shape change?
6 months ago | A lot of the trails, that are not made by BLM, have physical signs that show the trail name that was given to the trail by the trail builder or builders. Is there a way to add a photo to this text? I have examples but don't see a way to add them to this text. I think that this is well within the rules of OSM. OSM also says "Common name" in the name field.
6 months ago | Hi Joseph, I disagree with you on this. OSM clearly says "The primary name should be the one prominently displayed on signs, guideposts, or widely recognized and used locally." The latter of those options apply to this situation. Trail/path names do not need to come from or be blessed by government, such as the BLM. A large percentage of these trails are unofficial trails and are not made by the BLM. I have ridden these trails with the locals and have done trail maintenance on them. These are the names that the local users commonly call the trails. Having trail names also aids in rescue during an accident. I hope that you are not the one that has been removing the trail names that the volunteer trail builders have been naming the trails around the Vegas/Henderson area. They build the trails, name them, and then put the trails and trail names on multiple websites. This is well within standard OSM practices. If the trail names start disappearing again we will send this to a higher level to look into and have a talk with that person. Please do not remove these trail names if you are the one doing so.
7 months ago | I am sure they exist. I was there three weeks ago. Some of the trail starts are very hard to see as there is little vegetation and almost all rock. So, some of them don't show the usual wear that vegetation often shows and they are hidden a bit.
11 months ago | Do you know the best way to mark a physical path that is used both for cross country skiing in the winter and is a regular path in the summer for bikes, running, and hiking? Basically, the path is a Path, and a piste.
11 months ago | Wow the new building looks great, very modern looking.
11 months ago | Ok, thanks for correcting my mistake. I looked at several other resources online and believed that the building was removed physically. I couldn’t find any proof that it was currently in existence. I appreciate it.
about 1 year ago | Thank you for correcting this. All I see on the map now is the large changeset rectangle. Do you mind explaining where it is or show me with a Google pindrop link? Isn't "24-November-2024" in the future? Thank you.
| 145312706 | over 1 year ago | Ok. Thanks for the info.
|
over 1 year ago | Yes, there are trail markers on the side of the trail that give a name to that area or trail segment.
over 1 year ago | I changed them to trail markers. I think that is better.
over 1 year ago | Which path are you speaking of? I only see a large changeset square on the map. It doesn't show me what path you are speaking of. I was taught by a local OSM mapper that is really knowledgeable about OSM, that unless it is designed or designated for bikes to commute or travel longer distances, that it should just be marked as a path, and not a cycleway. Is there a way that you could show me the exact path so that I can understand what you are saying? If I made a mistake, I apologize.
over 1 year ago | Hi, many trails were missing and many were not labeled. The govt trail map has trail names on it, which I used to label the paths. Is there something that is incorrect? If so, I would gladly fix it. Thank you.
over 1 year ago | Ok, I think I understand what you mean. So, for instance, if a large trail like North Country Trail is correctly marked with the relation of "North Country Trail", then the trail should not be named the same, otherwise both of the names will render? Just leave it blank or label the path with a local trail name? Is that what you are saying? Thanks for bringing this up.
over 1 year ago | Sorry Steve, I did get some of the data from from various locations including Trailforks. I will gladly fix. Is there a map or website that is completely correct that I can use to correct my mistakes?
