5 months ago | Oops, I meant old_name tags.
6 months ago | BTW, since I added the service roads around the new Otonomous Hotel, wanna add the parking lots?
6 months ago | All that around the Otonomous Hotel is not "add residential area". I know it's extra work, but PLEASE update in smaller increments so that your changeset comments match what happened. :)
6 months ago | Survey result today: node/7278959378 is completely empty of merchandise and only shelving remains. It could return as any type of shop, so did not use disused:shop=craft
| 167638797 | 6 months ago | Hi CjMalone! I saw your bulk edit and so I checked the JOANN store within walking distance to me that I had tagged about 2 months ago as about to close: node/7278959378

7 months ago | Looks like that URL got munged. This is better: https://www.oregon.gov/odot/Data/Documents/Routes-to-Highway-Cross-Reference-Table.pdf
| 166593656 | 7 months ago | I heard back from my contact in Wren, OR. Here's what he said: This is a complicated problem, I see this all the time traveling all over the country.
For Oregon, in general, outside of city limits, the signage used is the US or State Highway number, not the ODOT name. Inside of city limits it's up to the city to decide whether to use the ODOT name the highway number or some other name. There are, of course, several exceptions to this. |
7 months ago | OK, I messaged my guy in Wren OR, asking if any of his photos have street signs. This is getting really interesting!
7 months ago | One of our guys was just there less than 2 hours ago, confirming the station was live. He's in Wren, OR, so at least in the same state. I'm going to ask him because he might have photos.
7 months ago | Gotta crash. Talk later!
7 months ago | I guess the question is how do we deal with this road being called by several different names? Someone is maybe still calling it "Halsey-Sweet Home Highway" but the US Postal Service doesn't use that and neither does the State of Oregon on their map. So, what do we do?
7 months ago | There are several sections that need to be changed. In the past it was also tagged with different tags in different sections. Kind of a mess right now. Shouldn't the OR highway number take priority over local or historic names? This road probably wasn't an OR state road in the beginning. What do you think?
7 months ago | Current name is just "Highway 228", which is what the USPS (US Postal Service) uses. Check their URL (Zip Code finder - I list their URL in the changeset) and they come up with the "Standard Address" which uses "Highway 228". We can save all the alternate names, which I did.
7 months ago | Hi! Yes, and after looking up the name of the highway on the State of Oregon maps, saw it had lots of alternates, so changed it to the current name, which also matches what the USPS uses.
7 months ago | Meant to say "Updated details of Supercharger station"
7 months ago | The US National Park Service has a photo at https://www.nps.gov/places/000/yoda-fountain.htm , so if the US government has a photo, it should be usable with no issue. I could be wrong, though!
7 months ago | Went over 256 chars on changeset note. Continue here: Added ele, opening_hours, parking:fee, start_date
8 months ago | Why are you setting these roads from service to residential? Clearly this is a commercial area and not a residential area. Is this a mistake or am I missing something?
8 months ago | Excellent. Very cool. There are so many cool things with OSM. Thanks again!
8 months ago | Thanks for the typo fix. Man, how did that get in there?! :)
