Duplicates the existing Rogers Stadium area: way/1377018861

162992459 10 months ago

As of 2025 imagery, it looks like this building is still standing. A building to the south (way/459234443) was demolished in 2024. Is that the one you meant to remove?

Hello! Would you mind explaining the rationale behind these edits? I've noticed you're changing many of the roads through parking lots from service=parking_aisle to service=driveway, which is an inappropriate use of that tag. You've also deleted many sidewalks, as well as the entire landuse area for the Hollywood Casino.

You are continuing to duplicate existing bus route relations.

Hello!

All of these bus routes that you've added are duplicates of ones that already exist:

CLS: relation/9513600

MC: relation/9518806

WC: relation/952035

I believe they were residential before I changed them to unclassified a while ago. Again, the definitions of road classifications seem to be uncomfortably up for interpretation, but it didn't feel right calling them residential when nobody lives on them.

My intention was to revert changes to the service roads near the Kuhn Honors and Scholars House / Pomerene Hall and the connection between W 18th Ave and Magruder Avenue. I try not to touch road classifications (since they're often pretty ambiguous), though I don't think that any of the smaller roads through campus would meet the tertiary standards. W 18th Avenue between Neil and College Rd definitely is a pedestrian street though.

When in doubt, the OSM wiki is always a good place to check:

entrance=*#Entrances_and_addresses

91192099 over 5 years ago

Just a small note on adding addresses to building entrances: Typically you would only add an address if each door leads to a different address. If there are multiple doors to enter a building with the same address (like with Smith-Steeb and Park-Stradley Halls), the address should be applied to the building itself, not the entrances.

I think that's the biggest thing to keep in mind with this particular dataset. I also usually try to make the tags as specific as possible (tagging houses with building=house and garages with building=garage, for example) rather than just tagging everything with building=yes, but that's not strictly necessary.

If it is a single building, then it generally should be mapped as a single building unless there is a good reason to do so (for example, individual shops in a strip mall are often mapped individually even though they're technically all part of the same building).

Hi there,

Do you do any kind of review of these buildings before importing them? I know that the Franklin County building data has a number of issues, most notably splitting a single building into several due to porches/overhangs/etc (see way/830069042 for a particularly egregious example of this).

Hello!

Looking through the article you've linked, it looks like the Livingston Park that was renamed was one in Albany, NY, not this one in Columbus, OH.

Adding this comment to both this changeset and #81581519:

When adding buildings, please do coordinate to ensure that multiple people aren't working on the same area at the same time. I have seen several cases in the Columbus area where multiple Amazon Logistics users have created duplicate house areas on top of each other, and this is not desirable.

Just for your future reference, if you press "Q" when you have an area selected, you can make the corners nice and squared.

If you don't mind my asking, what were your sources for these edits? In many cases, your "improved" building geometries are simply wrong, most notably Jones Tower and Scott House. In other cases, like Blackburn House and Torres House, the buildings are now far too close to the walkways.

Hey there! For future reference, if you press "Q" when an area is selected (like these houses you've added), it will make all of the corners nice and square.

Hello,

Is there a reason why you moved this bench three blocks away from the park?
