I saw your question, you can add a alternative name using the alt_name tag. You can also add more specific name tags via name=* depending on what you need for things like official name or local name etc. that may differ from the most common name in the name tag.

Agreed thats a good case and most common. There could also be cases where a school is a single structure and sometimes that structure can have the same name as the school with a plaque or engraving on the facade so in those cases if the building has a name I could see the building sharing the same name as the school itself. Without knowing the intent of the previous mapper for this school, its hard to know in this case if the building here does in fact have this name. School buildings in the Providence area all seem to mostly have the name of the school on the building from their original building import 5 years ago. I usually tend to err on the side of keeping things as they are unless its super obvious. Ill go ahead and remove the name tag.

Good point, no reason. It could just be left on the school grounds instead of both. I saw it had been tagged on the building across the street as a building name so I transferred it over to the real building, but certainly it could be left off of the building. Open to any changes you think is best.

Thanks for starting to update the speeds on some of the roads. I have already updated the road segments impacted by the new school zone speed limits around the city but have not done a larger update of the general speed limit on all roads. If you use a tool like JOSM (https://josm.openstreetmap.de/) it may be a easier task of updating all the roads in a selection set using filters to just get things that are residential streets etc. otherwise a manual process may be needed to make sure the correct road types are tagged correctly. I think also Schenectady lowered their speeds to 25 mph as well.

right agreed, can go either way in this case. In that light was:name seems more appropriate Ill go ahead and update that.

old_name is a more widely used tag for a previous name: old_name=* from the wiki was:name is sometimes used but broader community preference is to use old_name. was:name according to the discussion linked to the wiki also seems to not be picked up by Nominatim. Open to whatever notation you feel is best for the tag if you have a different preference as I dont think going one way or another is a big deal in this case.

Sounds good, currently it is there as a separate node for the atm itself and the separate building structure is just noted as a generic building canopy since its not really a full building. If there is a full service bank branch here as well that could be added where that structure is located on the property with or without a relation to this structure can go either way. Otherwise this looks ok as is.

No worries, I usually try to fix things as I notice them, otherwise you never know when it will get noticed again.

No worries at all, if you are using iD unfortunately a lot of the presets for pois automatically either have no building tag on them when you want them or they have a building tag when you dont want them. I usually pick the poi from the list first and then in the bottom of the edit form under tags I use the list or text option and Ill manually remove the incorrect building=yes tag to make it an area with no building. Same for the opposite case where if you tag a building as a poi such as amenity=social_facility it will sometimes automatically remove the existing building tag, so Ill manually add it back before saving.

Thanks for the update on that and placing the razed tag on it since imagery hasn't caught up to it yet. Looks good.

Thanks for your edits, the node you have added for the parking garage is already represented as a building here: way/330244668 so a node is not needed since its already represented as this building. I removed the node since it duplicates information already on the map that is best represented as the existing parking garage building area.

Hi AKittyCat, thanks for your edits. I noticed some issues with this changeset. You may have inadvertently dragged the node for this bar and connected it to a highway: node/2625350848 I have fixed this one for you. But mainly the issue is with deleting and remaking the building for the Egg here: way/1296514152 deleting it removes all the change history associated with it when you could have moved it instead. Regardless, I think the previous version was a bit more accurate in terms of location and structure shape as it had more nodes for the curves, accounted for the parallax in the aerial imagery, and used the NY state orthos for more positional accuracy than Bing. Currently the new building you made represents the building at an angle in the imagery and is not actually where it sits on the ground. Also you removed the relation to the pedestrian area. Please be more careful in future edits if you can or leave questions about things on notes if you are not sure about something. I have not fixed this issue as its complicated to do so.

Thanks MxxCon, no problem, I just made the update. I was under the impression the relation meant the outer area had 1 level and the inner area had 25 levels which would fully account for the tower levels. Sounds good.
