i googled White Island on wikipedia and got the Mau Mau link. I'd heard it called Mau Mau island before but White Island sounded more official so I went with that.

So bottom line I agree with the map.

I did not know there was such a thing as an alliance. I did not know of the map. I made the change because when I opened up Organic Map it showed Marine Park where I expected to see White Island or Mau Mau Island. I was there once with an organization called HarborLab.

Ok. I'll change both to landuse=shrubs.

Same answer.

I think its just a garden. Personally, I'd just call it a planting, but not up to me. It really fits that definition. Bunch of shrubs. No flowers. Certainly not a bioswale.

Actually, its fine the way it is. I thought I had said no no somewhere but I didn't.

There is no tactile paving there and the street is needs repaving. Once tactile paving goes in DOT doesn't like to do change to raised crosswalks. The fact that this cross street has no tactile paving and needs repaving means that a raised crosswalk is possible. I like to use the term continuous sidewalk. I heard that term used somewhere else and its sounds positive whereas raised crosswalks implies a mod.

Its definitely an interesting view coming out of the tunnel. I didn't know it had a name.

Its complicated. You can still use the crosswalk to cross the street, yet fencing blocks the long way along playground and the shorter way between playground and dog run. I will mark both of them as under construction too. I've got emails going back and forth with parks claiming the subcontractor is out of scope in blocking them. I'm considering suing them.

I used landuse=construction. Also changed the description to say that it was a dog park before construction and will continue to be one after.

Great point. I removed the inline_skate tag because while its likely I assumed someone skates would just walk it there. Hadn't considered slope that goes from the tunnel to the hairpin turn. I walk my bike going down that. I can't imagine it on skates.

I looked. There is no description.
The wikidata entry Q23239 points to Amtrak. Its a bridge over Amtrak. I'm sure they built the bridge but AFAIK, it was repaired in the last 5 years by DPR. (Parks)

Gotcha!

Thanks. Never thought to look here, but I will.

Interesting. I'll have to try the memorial_name tag and find out if its searchable.

Same Barnard as the college. https://barnard.edu/news/founders-day-barnards-125th-anniversary-party

You know more than I. I'd never heard of either street naming. I just tried Google Maps - no clue. 311 app - no clue. Acastus Photon app recognized it as West 103rd Street. I'd guess NYC doesn't use it. Would the US Post Office use it? I don't know.

The short answer is I don't know.
I assumed both names are honorary.

Here's the long answer.
This was a discussion between @MxxCon and myself after I put a second alt_name for the piece of W103 that's closest to Broadway. @mmxCon said they'd conflict. I set the Norman Rockwell name as honorary_name as @MxxCon said it was possible and at least wouldn't conflict. Unfortunately, the honorary_name is not searchable whereas alt_name is. I went to the other end of the block to verify the Odessa Stewart Street sign and as I do lately, I try to attach a Mapillary image to anything I tag so there is justification.

I see that g stands for 'Highlight unsaved edits'. Going to go through the iD help slowly.

151603072 over 1 year ago

Does g stand for something? or is there an function name I can search on as g is not intuitive.

151603072 over 1 year ago

Wow. So glad you restored it. Totally unintentional. Sorry. Was only intending to look at it because of something I saw in the Random channel on US slack. Is there a way with iD to see what one's changes? So far I've only been able to undo and put stuff back.
