Thanks for catching that. I added building=yes

I would like to revert the naming back to Alyeska Resort. The de facto naming locally is such and I view The Hotel Alyeska as a part of the total resort building and at a level of linguistic formality that is more marketing than what it referred to commonly for many years.

The fairweather should have four levels with the first floor being a garage/foyer.

building:levels=*

I might have a photo somewhere in my google photos but it isn't indexed in a way I can easily access it. Here is a googlephoto sphere link that shows the area has some intention to it but it isn't readable.

I am a local and I have walked by this area many times and can confirm that this is a de facto area used a dog memorial and it is labeled as such at the location.

That sounds like a great solution! Thanks for following up.

Hello TIYA. I can tell you are acting in good faith in your edit in name placing but I am skeptical that the best course is to rename the lake.

The first reason is that if the lake is more of a unnamed tern then it should have no name instead of eagle lake as it was previously labeled.

The second reason is that if it is a colloquially known name that isn't named in another map, it would follow that it might be called Eagle Lake since it is the most headwater body of Eagle River. If you rename this lake as a new placemaking effort, which is not encouraged, it would follow that you might introduce confusion by naming it anything other than Eagle Lake. If there is another lake in the neighboring valley named Eagle Lake that is still there added even more confusion.

Third, while I honor your effort to restore the Dena'ina people there is an ironic toponymic colonialism in it as well... Mendenhall recorded natives calling this area Yunkla Creek in 1900 but this was it related to the settler's name for it as Eagle Creek/River. The recorded native name for this river is Nuk'elehitnu. If you were going to rename this lake, The above is referenced in Shem Pete's Alaska. I would recommend this name instead if renaming the lake was necessary.

Would you take a second look at this edit? I think the trail is closer to the road. Take a look at my trail recording I used to update it earlier this summer: @Hans%20Thompson/traces/11957596

This is a very good edit. Your attention to trail meta data is exemplar.

The trail that was removed should not be added back but not because it is private property. Instead, the trail should be removed because the original edit was not quality controlled by a person but instead an automated road atlas import (TIGER) from over ten years ago that is continuously being corrected.

OSM follows the principal that only what exists is mapped and does not follow private property exemptions unless contracted and approved through [email protected].

I have some doubts on the house that is titled, "The Last Homely House East of the Sea" as a de facto broadly recognized name so I would consider if this is true and whether it should be removed. I googled it and only found a youtube channel of a british cottagecore infulencer.

Overall an excellent edit to an under mapped area. If you have a curiosity to do more, I would be interested in seeing more detail in the Elka mine area.

Congrats.

I have not heard others name this and other parking locations along point woronzof drive. Where are you finding these names or are you naming them?

Lockheed ave. should not be listed as access=private. The public routinely delivers and picks up packages from Everts, ACE, and UPS.
