Edit-measuring contests are childish, and don't work in your favor anyhow, as Hufkratzer has contributed to the OSM wiki and various code repositories. What you are doing is called "tagging for the renderer", which you can read about on said wiki. The basic principle is to not break OSM just to fix some map. Using the wrong tag might make sense for your use, but it confuses everyone else. Hufkratzer has very nicely offered several solutions that don't go against the principles of the site. No one is trying to make themselves "feel important", we're just trying to improve the correctness of the map. Your map is no more valuable than anyone else's. Keep that in mind when deciding whether it's a big deal to "break" it for everyone else for your own needs. |
10 months ago | You replaced the website with the street address
10 months ago | While trying to connect a road to many crosswalks, sometimes the suggested fixes move positions and I end up clicking the wrong one. Oops.
10 months ago | Feature already exists with correct tags, please revert way/64357548
10 months ago | This is a shared asphalt driveway, not a residential road.
11 months ago | addr:city should contain the postal city, in this case "Holladay", rather than "City Of Holladay"
11 months ago | Deleting your own contributions is a form of vandalism.
11 months ago | Please check the location. 801 Everett Street should be four blocks away.
11 months ago | Welcome to OpenStreetMap, and thank you for your edit! As requested, here's a review of your changeset. The opening hour syntax is tricky to get right, but you have it down perfectly! The phone number just needs a slight tweak. It should be in +<country code>-<area code>-<local number> format, in this case +1-208-373-0020. I hadn't heard about the name change. Good to know!
11 months ago | Do not engage in further edit warring. I have already explained the issue with your edits. Any more edits of this nature will be reported to the Data Working Group.
11 months ago | Welcome to OpenStreetMap! Unfortunately, I have to revert your edits, because this is not the proper way to map a shopping center. In addition to the geometry being very inaccurate, this is a single building. If you have a floor plan that indicates the dimensions of each shop, you could map them as areas and add the address information. This geometry, however, is incorrect.
11 months ago | I have already explained the issue with partitioning the building in this way. Please do not map the shopping center like this again. Thank you.
11 months ago | This was constructed as a single building, so these subdivisions aren't really appropriate. Furthermore, the angles are not properly aligned. I suggest mapping the individual shops as areas instead. They can be merged with the addresses to similar effect.
11 months ago | I don't think the peak is named in GNIS, but it looks like a local name in use: https://www.peakbagger.com/peak.aspx?pid=17030
11 months ago | Do not use the description for spam image is used for pictures of the feature only, not company logos
11 months ago | Thank you for the additional info. The existing tags do not describe the feature, so I have updated them.
11 months ago | Cannot verify location
12 months ago | ChatGPT aside, you absolutely *can* learn how to maintain PT relations so that you avoid breaking them. I would argue that it is your duty to fix issues caused by you once you become aware of them. There are plenty of ways to contribute to the map that don't require knowledge of route relations. You should stick to those if you're not willing to learn.
12 months ago | OpenStreetMap is a live database. Any consumers accessing a version of the data after you submit changes will see them reflected.
