Veggiekarte is a web map that filters OpenStreetMap data to show only places with vegetarian or vegan food options.

It's available as a Progressive Web App in multiple languages and specifically designed for the vegetarian/vegan community rather than being a general-purpose map viewer.

Features

  • Category filtering: Places can be filtered by categories (restaurants, cafés, ice cream shops, etc.) and dietary options (vegan-only, vegetarian options)
  • Geolocation: Users can locate their current position on the map
  • Geocoding search: Search for specific addresses or place names to navigate the map
  • Theming: Multiple map themes available including light and dark mode and grayscale
  • Opening hours: Displays current opening status and detailed opening hours using the opening_hours tag
  • Multilingual: Interface available in 10 languages (Catalan, German, English, Esperanto, Spanish, Finnish, French, Italian, Korean, Russian)

The tool also includes a data quality checker that helps identify incomplete or inconsistent tagging in OSM, which contributors can then fix.
