License

https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/File:Plastic_pitch_surface.jpg - have you asked uploader of the image about license and got agreement from them (or maybe have you uploaded own photo)? Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 19:06, 2 July 2024 (UTC)

Hi! I asked th07 in PM, but he or she has been inactive since 18 September, 2023, so I don't think we'll get a reply. Theoretically, I can go to the same pitch on an occasion and take my own photo of the surface. (Although, to be honest, my impression was that license policies at OSM wiki are less enforced than at Commons...) Yelisey90 (talk) 20:27, 9 July 2024 (UTC)

Historic=epigraph

Hi, just wanted to let you know that I reverted your edit on the epigraph definition. The reason is in the comment. —Dieterdreist (talk) 22:13, 10 September 2025 (UTC)

Hi Dieterdreist! But wasn't it the original purpose of this tag to map historic inscriptions? The thing is, after it became more prominently featured in the wiki, people have sometimes started using it for just inscriptions without historical value, like https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/12492542188 (which just means "Transformation Substation 5", nothing worth mapping) or https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/12520056631 (which, although pretty-looking, was only created in 2018, still promotes the gallery/shop inside the building, so qualifies as advertising=*). So I guess there should be some straightforward message that the tag shouldn't be overused, right? Yelisey90 (talk) 22:32, 10 September 2025 (UTC)
