"Advice for creating a tag page on the wiki."
Regularly I create pages about new tags, and I think there is a lack of specific help for this.
When I want to create a tag page, I have to search for good examples in the tag pages I know, then find the right templates, search on another one tag page for a good section (structure), and another tag page where I can find good "see also" section (with which sort of useful links) etc. All this search wastes my time and results in a creation of a lower quality page.
That's why I want to propose to create a page where we can give advices on "how I can do a good tag page on the wiki".
In this page we will do recommandation about the structure (which section, with which name, with which content inside, who uses which useful template) and the wikicode related.
This "advice page" will be similar on what we can find on Wikipedia, for example for biographical page (Wikipedia FR - Biographie Structure), or video games (Wikipedia FR - Jeu vidéo Structure ; Wikipedia FR - Aide à la Rédaction).
So my plan is to do :
- an advice page.
- a preload wikicode when we create a new tag page (which will be based on advice page)
So the main objective is to have a common good reference for structuring information about a tag, so that users can benefit from faster and smoother reading, as well as better understanding (because, for example, if the decide to recommand a good use of the icon
in the "how to tag" section, the reader will have less doubt of the context of the use of this part of the paragraph).
And future possible objective could be (not sure if it's a good idea) to edit existing tag pages to make them more structured.
The aim is not to force people into an imposed structure, but to provide more structured information for those who want it. If pages cannot be structured as recommended, do not attempt to do so. Specific tags may require more specific structure plans.
This advice page should be viewed more as a "tool box".
