The Bangkok Metropolitan Region is served by a growing network of public transit systems, ranging from metro rail to commuter trains, buses, ferries, and informal modes of transport. This page aims to document the representation of these transit networks in the database, with a primary focus on how each system is modeled using route and route_master relations. These relations link the physical infrastructure (tracks, roads, waterways) with the logical structure of transit lines and their variations in service direction or stop patterns. By detailing existing OSM relation IDs, line names, operators, and tagging conventions, this page serves as a resource for both mappers and transit data users looking for a consistent and verifiable mapping of Bangkok’s public transport infrastructure.
For tagging guidelines, see this page.

Metro
BTS Skytrain
The Bangkok Mass Transit System, commonly known as the BTS Skytrain (รถไฟฟ้บีทีเอส, [BTS]), is an fully elevated metro transit system. It is operated by the Bangkok Mass Transit System Public Company Limited (BTSC), it currently consists of two primary lines — the Sukhumvit Line and the Silom Line — which intersect at the centrally located Siam Station, the system’s only interchange station.
The BTS operates multiple service patterns beyond the full-length routes. Some services terminate at intermediate stations, depending on time of day and demand. Additionally, there are crossover services that run through both lines, allowing trains to continue and serve destinations on the opposite line. These interlining operations provide flexible routing and improve connectivity without requiring transfers at the interchange.
A short, automated people mover — the Gold Line — also connects to the system at Krung Thon Buri Station, offering feeder service to the riverfront area.
