This is a documentation subpage for Template:Reflist.
It contains usage information, categories and other content or metadata that is not part of the original template.

This Template encapsulates the <references /> tag used by the Cite.php MediaWiki extension to show the list of references as defined by <ref> tags. Use this template on pages with many refs, because:

• It properly uses references-small.
• It knows better about column layout than you do.

NOTE: Do not mess with column-count. It specifies the maximum allowed number of columns, which is seriously important.
