Waterway requirement

There is a schema conflict with usage spillway on areas. The key:waterway page indicates that the waterway key does not apply to areas. The usage=spillway page says it applies to areas when used with waterways. I’ve tried it out and it renders a loop as a track instead of an area. I think that it would have to be applied to a canal area instead of a waterway using natural=water and water=canal instead of waterway. Mamanakis 15 avril 2024 on 01:56am.

spillway key instead of spillway:type

Currently, spillway:type=* is mentioned on this page and is used 11 times worldwide. As :type suffix is a poor idea, we should mention spillway=* instead. Fanfouer (talk) 23:15, 28 September 2025 (UTC)
